  • It is true we tiled in the form of the ceiling far too little rooms or cells always sad when there are still relics of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s are in zoos. So you can see it also in the Wilhelma, unless some monkeys or the giraffe. Also the cages for birds in the outer area are certainly out of date. At other points, however, man has recognized the signs of the time. May is also the less-is-more principle for a Zoo like the Wilhelma the right way. Less diversity for this kind of more equitable attitude. This is implemented in the Leipzig Zoo exemplary.

  • It’s truly one of the most beautiful, neat & well planned zoos I’ve ever been. The flowers, plants, hidden parks, fountains, picnic & relaxing areas just wonderful! Loved the separate themes & structu...  more »
  • A huge space, ideal for those travelling with children. Once again there is the obstacle of language where it is very difficult to find someone who speaks English. In any case, I advise you!

  • Beautiful zoo in terms of architecture that was former bathhouse of Duke Wilhelm I inspired from Moorish style of Alhambra palace. Gardens, fountains, statues and all floral design are amazing. There are enormous amount of animals, birds, insects, fishes from around the world. Parking place safe of weather, restaurant and other options for lunch.
  • This was a really fantastic zoo and botanical gardens. The setting is magical and they have some species that I have never seen or heard of before (having mainly visited zoos in America). Most of their animal exhibits are on par with (or even nicer than) what you see in nicer American zoos (think San Diego) and you can see that they are continually working to update and provide larger/more enriched enclosures. My favorite animal exhibits were the Bolivian squirrel monkeys (which I'd never seen before) and the exhibit in which a species of sheep, a small baboon species, and rock hyrax were all living together--they had just been fed and their interactions were really fun to watch. The botanical gardens portion is really lovely (visiting botanical gardens are one of my favorite things to do whenever I travel). The grounds are much bigger than I'd been expecting and we easily spent 4-5 hours there and could have stayed longer, but it was getting towards closing. This was a highlight of my trip and if I lived here I'd visit all the time. Definitely worth going.
  • Cool botanical and zoo park. Huge territory with various plants, animals and climate zones. But big minus is there are no any convenient signs to show you route you can follow, only big map at several places and some directions( Not enough for such beautiful and huge park )
  • Best day spent at this zoo. Wonderful animals and you can get so close to animals! The garden is gorgeous too.
  • We were in Stuttgart in December. This was a nice place to be on a cold dreary day when it had snowed that morning. The atriums well wonderful. Very educational. We loved the aquarium and terrarium. Wood fires were also setup around one out water feature for roasting weiners. Our lunch at the restaurant was very filling and service was warm, friendly, and very helpful.
