Landmark
Open to the public since 1918, Palace Square (Schlossplatz) is one of the largest plazas in Stuttgart. A former military parade ground, the tree-lined square hosts part of Koningstrasse, the city's main shopping street. The fountain and Jubilee Column are striking features. The palace complex houses the Wurttemburg Museum and Baden-Wurttemburg government ministries. Wander among the plaza's lawns and flowerbeds, which offer plenty of places to rest. The square and its buildings suffered extensive damage during World War II. Huge restoration projects since have been bringing it back to its former glory. • The Palace square invites as soon as the sun comes out to linger. A Hugo in the café in front of the stock exchange complete the lunch.

  • A convivial place on a busy Saturday and plenty of space. If all tables at the cafes are taken, remember that the convention is to share.  more »

  • Unexpected but very nice center of town. Install yourself and enjoy the young crowd with a nice beer in hand!
  • perfect place which has a huge garten and very comfortable restaurants and shops around it. No matter you want to read a book or have a cup of coffee, or even dancing and take some events. Everybody must enjoy himself without unnessesary interruption. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!
  • Shopping opposite the schloss. Might be nice on a warm day. Not terribly impressive.
  • Beautiful Plaza with a very relaxing view. Plenty of benches around to sit down and enjoy the views. Right in front is the New Schloss of Stuttgart. Also, it is in the main shopping street of Stuttgart, which also happens to be the longest shopping street of Europe.
  • Stutgart town square that looks beautiful in winter. During the Christmas markets the square has an open air ice skating rink which offers cheap ice skating with good skates.
