Palace Square (Schlossplatz), Stuttgart
(4.5/5 based on 1,000+ reviews on the web)
Open to the public since 1918, Palace Square (Schlossplatz) is one of the largest plazas in Stuttgart. A former military parade ground, the tree-lined square hosts part of Koningstrasse, the city's main shopping street. The fountain and Jubilee Column are striking features. The palace complex houses the Wurttemburg Museum and Baden-Wurttemburg government ministries. Wander among the plaza's lawns and flowerbeds, which offer plenty of places to rest. The square and its buildings suffered extensive damage during World War II. Huge restoration projects since have been bringing it back to its former glory. • Considering that 90% of Stuttgart was flattened during the last war you have to admire the way it has been rebuilt. This central park gives a lot of space to the inhabitants.
  • Always worth a visit. Centrally located, the castle garden is a beautiful green variety of the surrounding city. Depending on the season you can find here various markets and offers that invite you to visit. Anyone who appreciates beautiful architecture, will come at his own expense.
