Landmark Tourist Spot
Open to the public since 1918, Palace Square (Schlossplatz) is one of the largest plazas in Stuttgart. A former military parade ground, the tree-lined square hosts part of Koningstrasse, the city's main shopping street. The fountain and Jubilee Column are striking features. The palace complex houses the Wurttemburg Museum and Baden-Wurttemburg government ministries. Wander among the plaza's lawns and flowerbeds, which offer plenty of places to rest. The square and its buildings suffered extensive damage during World War II. Huge restoration projects since have been bringing it back to its former glory. Where to stay in Stuttgart

Stuttgart's city center offers a number of lodging options near major sites, but consider areas just outside the center for better deals. For example, Stuttgart-West is within walking distance from the center and boasts its fair share of cafes, restaurants, markets, and theaters. Two more areas, Stuttgart-Ost and Stuttgart-Süd, are also centrally located and full of local character.

  • Beautiful center to downtown Stuttgart. The square has lots of space to have a picnic or just lay out in the grass. The square is surrounded by tons of shops and great restaurants. If you come to Stuttgart, this is a must visit!
  • Nice place to come and relax either solo of with friends. Right in the heart of the city. There is always something going on and the views are great. Grab an ice cream from one of the many eis stands and enjoy a beautiful afternoon.
  • Right in the heart of Stuttgart. Surrounded by cafes and restaurants. Many stores nearby. Very nice area. During summer time, there are many events happening in this area. People like to hangout in the grass area, lay out in the sun and drink.
  • A busy street in Stuttgart with a lot of people moving around in the evenings. Lots and lots of showrooms and locations around on Könnigstraße to shop. Lot of eateries nearby. Ideal to pass time or utilize free time. :)
  • My favourite place in Stuttgart. Historical and modern buildings at one places combined so well. The Xmas market was great!
