The Killesbergpark is an urban public park of half a square kilometre in Stuttgart, Germany. It is just north of the state capital, where Killesberg is a quarter of the borough of Stuttgart-Nord .The park dates back to the horticultural show of 1939. Before the show, a large area of the park had been a quarry. It was transformed into a park with exhibition sites for the show, and has remained, hosting horticultural events on a regular basis, including the “Bundesgartenschau” and the IGA, both garden festivals. The Killesbergpark bordered for many years the city's fairgrounds. In 2007, Messe Stuttgart moved to new ground close to Stuttgart Airport.Every July the park hosts the popular Lichterfest Stuttgart. Thousands of lanterns are placed around the park, decorating the park for a variety of family activities throughout. After dark, there is a fireworks show accompanied by music. Visitors often bring blankets to sit on for the show.Killesberg railwaySince its opening, the park has been home to the 381-millimetre narrow-gauge Killesberg railway. In the summer months, visitors can see two diesel and two steam locomotives, which have been fixtures in the park since 1950. The horticultural show of 1939 saw the opening of the railway, when two borrowed steam engines from Leipzig traversed a short stretch of track. During World War II, the steam engines were returned to Leipzig for use there. New locomotives were purchased, and today there are two diesel and three steam engines in use.

  • A beautiful excursion destination in Stuttgart. Beautiful landscaped park with a small Petting Zoo. The tower should necessarily be climbed to views.

  • You can back einsparen adorn this park from many sides. I think it's great, there is no Park problem. The system is well maintained. For old and young are resting places, designed gardens and animals which can be seen a. The Tower will cost 50 cents and should be absolutely visited.

  • Fantastic place to visit in Stuttgart and spend time with your family and friends. The views from the top of the tower is quite spectacular and there is no entrance fee whatsoever. In addition you can get close to some animals and birds like the Alpacas and Flamingo! Ideal for barbecuing if the weather is good and just relax!
  • Nice green lungs of city This huge park spread on hill top. Very easily accessible by local transport. There is one big play area for children with various options. park is well maintained. There is a toy train which can be enjoyed by adults as well. There is a tower on which one can climb up and have a nice view of city.
  • Incredible Stuttgart. This is the city where those good looking Porsche's are made. Precision, quality, fast and beautiful. Love Porsche vehicles. Incredibly enough, the world class Mercedes Benz company is headquartered here. Beautiful, powerful, advanced Mercedes cars. Awesome!
  • Beautiful, well-kept Park. Easy access by tram/bus. Playground for children, petting zoo with chickens, alpacas, donkeys, goats etc. Many different levels and sections of park to explore with lakes, fountains and lots of wildfowl. The Killesberg train runs during clement weather and takes you on a tour around the park, about 15minutes. Ticket charges are fair. Recommended to all, old and young!
  • The children loved the train and the small area where animals are kept and one could feed them. The huge Magnolia tree at the other entrance is always enchanting, be it any weather. Finding a parking spot was difficult
