A very beautiful town, the ruins of the fortress are delicious, rich Exposition, tragichesko-a romantic story of the captivity of Countess Goat, mistresses of August the strong. Well, a miracle of engineering and mining thoughts and technology created in the basalt breed is unique! Walk around this castle took a real pleasure!

An interesting Castle where she lived and died Hrabina Cosel. There are nice views from the towers. At the counter you can buy beer at 6 pitch made and sold only at the Castle. Recommend

One thinks of Stolpen, so you the Castle automatically connects with the tragic end of the former mistress Augustus of the strong, Countess Anna Cosel. If you know this extraordinary chapter in the Saxon history. If not, worth a trip on the Stolpener basalt rocks, which lies at the foot of the Elbe sandstone mountains, in any case. In the Cosel Tower tells you everything to the fate of this woman at the Baroque Court of Dresden. But otherwise, a visit offers great impressions. So, the ascent to the Tower opens an impressive and wide look that ranges through Saxony, Czech Republic. From Dresden you need car about a half an hour, can be ideally combined with a same-day trip to the bastion, which is about 30 minutes away.

  • Great journey through the remains of a castle, very well presented. The town is beautifully picturesque, and there is a small Fleischerei (butcher) with delicious food. When we were there, most of the businesses and gastronomy was closed, but maybe it's more lively on weekends and during the main tourism season.
  • Best of castles I have visited
  • Great little castle with some amazing views. Good explanation of the history of the building, especially of its most famous 'guest'.
  • very interesting, lots about Gräfin Cosel
  • It is worth to see as half day trip to discover the inside of the castle.
