Deutsch-Franzoesischer Garten, Saarbrucken

Garden Nature / Park
Deutsch-Franzoesischer Garten is part of a gardening tradition dating back to the mid-16th century, and was extensively redesigned in collaboration between France and Germany after being used as a battlefield in World War II. It's viewed as an important part of postwar heritage and a symbol of friendship between the two countries. You'll find shaded paths meandering through fragrant heather gardens, and a German millpond where you can cruise in paddleboats, as colorful peacocks wander the grounds. Ride the cable car for aerial views of the verdant 1950s'-style park, or take the mini train that runs through it. Then enjoy a game on the mini-golf course. Pick up a freshly baked pretzel at one of the kiosks on the north end, or stop at one of the cafes inside in the park for delicious German-French fusion cuisine. • Very nice Park with restaurants and a small lake with Lake and the ability to drive pedal. A small railway allows the Park to explore easily. There is also a small cable car, which runs diagonally through the Park. During the blooming period a beautiful sight. Only the cemetery could be better maintained. The fallen soldiers and heroes of the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-1871 on the nearby Marbella heights deserved it.

  • The Franco-German garden is a large, well-kept and Blütenreicher Park on an area of 50 ha. The 5-hectare German mill pond forms the main part of the Park, the drive to the paddle away. The highlight is the organ installed in the Lake. The water rise when matching music from the water fountains. There are many old trees, books and always again beautifully landscaped flower beds. An idyllic watercourse as well as. other water basins and fountains. Unfortunately, it was the cable car during our visit not in operation. But you can go with the Park own train to get a first overview. The extensive trail network shows a new prospects and the well placed benches invite you to linger. Also a cemetery is connected to the Park. Also the large rose garden. The Saarbrücker Casino is located at the edge of the Park. Food and beverage is well catered by several kiosks and a few restaurants.
