Deutsch-Franzoesischer Garten, Saarbrucken

(4/5 based on 220+ reviews on the web)
Deutsch-Franzoesischer Garten is part of a gardening tradition dating back to the mid-16th century, and was extensively redesigned in collaboration between France and Germany after being used as a battlefield in World War II. It's viewed as an important part of postwar heritage and a symbol of friendship between the two countries. You'll find shaded paths meandering through fragrant heather gardens, and a German millpond where you can cruise in paddleboats, as colorful peacocks wander the grounds. Ride the cable car for aerial views of the verdant 1950s'-style park, or take the mini train that runs through it. Then enjoy a game on the mini-golf course. Pick up a freshly baked pretzel at one of the kiosks on the north end, or stop at one of the cafes inside in the park for delicious German-French fusion cuisine. • I like using the DFG as a mid-term target for biking. You can sit in the green of the water, a café drink cream and enjoy the nature. And that stone's throw distance from the city centre.

  • It is easy to Park, the Park is perfect for the family Sunday promenade: impossible to mislead children, safe = former may walk slowly while children Frolic. Many benches, many stalls of snacks (ice, curry wurst, etc.) You can run, rollerblade, bike, scooter. There is an air of games for children. We can give bread to the ducks. The fall colors are beautiful.
