Niederwald Monument (Niederwalddenkmal), located in the landscaped park of the same name, commemorates the founding of the German Empire after the end of the Franco-Prussian War. Wilhelm I laid the monument's first stone on Sept. 16, 1871, and the complete structure measures 38 m (125 ft) tall. The monument depicts the ruler as well as army commanders and soldiers.   • Must see this monument that dominates the Laureley, standing at the foot of the statue there really is evidence that we are all small beings, this monument gebre really gives a good idea of the Germanic power as it embodies perfectly.

  • Worth the visit to the site. The location is beautiful, one of the highest points of the city, and the perfect view. The monument is impressive.

  • The little tourist town of Rudesheim us usually very crowded and can get old pretty quickly, so for a peaceful retreat, take the cable car up to the monument and enjoy the views. You can ride back dow...  more »
