Toppler Castle, Rothenburg

(3.5/5 based on 20+ reviews on the web)
Get an intimate tour of a small medieval castle in the Tauber valley at Toppler Castle, once both the summer residence and defensive tower for the powerful Lord Mayor Heinrich Toppler. Built in 1388, the small medieval castle now houses furniture from the 16th to 19th centuries. To enter, ring the bell outside the property to alert the owner. Walk up the steep stairs to see the sitting room, kitchen, bedroom, and library, and to learn more about the structure's history. Take a minute to notice the gardens outside, which could be flooded in case of attacks. Check the website for hours. • The city is a marvel. You can park in the car parks destined for such purpose, or you can also Park in the vicinity, it is not difficult to find a place, which is also free. It best is losing is by them streets, and discover the great amount of corners that there is. In the tourist office, you serve with great diligence and propose you a route to see what is necessary.

  • We drove by this one day and I didn't know it was a public building. Missed opportunity, but will plan for a future trip.
  • Found this by chance as we were driving around. Looked interesting but did not see away to go inside.
