Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Rothenburg

(4.7/5 based on 900+ reviews on the web)
Climb the east end tower of Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber to take in the views. A tight squeeze at the top of a ladder awaits those who brave the climb. Signs are a bit confusing. To climb the tower, go through the town hall's door on the side facing the square. After climbing the stairs, cross the big hall to go through the turnstile. You'll be asked for a small fee at the top. The structure began in 1250 with a Gothic-designed rear half. In 1572, construction began on the front half, crafted with Renaissance flair. • Worth the climb up the Tower! Lots of levels and right steep, for one has a good view over the whole city!

  • The views the tower gives you accross the city are just breath taking. No better way to see this fairytale town. The central market square is stunning.
  • Full of shops with novel articles, especially Christmas, all year round. We went three days before Christmas and the multi-colored lights that adorn the season and the Christmas market full of traditions of the people, you enjoy a sweet and warm environment with a good cup of hot wine. Everything is worthy of photographing it, as also is ride going, aunsin buy, the crowd of curious shops. A town where nothing goes unnoticed despite its strange calm.

  • Best view point in the tower. I suggest to go up to the tower inspite of narrow steps. You can pay the entrance fee at the top.
  • Beautiful medieval town, though too many tourists. It's a bit crazy that all of the churches here ask for an entrance fee. The town hall itself is beautiful, if you are visiting this city you must visit.
  • View from atop the tower is worth it. Seeing the sprawling walls all around is stunning. Best way to get a lay of the land before wandering town.
  • A very nice medieval city which unfortunately seems a bit too touristic now. Nevertheless, if you are in the area it's worth stopping for a few hours and looking around.
  • An lovely place to visit. I just love the architecture.
