Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Rothenburg
(4.7/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
Climb the east end tower of Stadt Rothenburg ob der Tauber to take in the views. A tight squeeze at the top of a ladder awaits those who brave the climb. Signs are a bit confusing. To climb the tower, go through the town hall's door on the side facing the square. After climbing the stairs, cross the big hall to go through the turnstile. You'll be asked for a small fee at the top. The structure began in 1250 with a Gothic-designed rear half. In 1572, construction began on the front half, crafted with Renaissance flair. • Absolutely gorgeous town square but littered with tourists in every direction. We were unable to stop and take in the sites as it was just too crowded. Somewhat reminiscent of the Prague central squar...  more »
  • Time can't climb (receptionist's lunch break? ) With children will certainly go on, so because the Observatory may be confusing, but the climb is more is described further abbreviated w. Good reason to have dared express "climb". (May i'am only to people who actually climb...) The last steps of the last (ladder? ) Is really hard (even-!! I can climb in? I feel is) can't climb I came here not. And in fact, views of the old city from the observation deck is the best. It is one of the places to go when you come to Rothenburg.

  • It's pretty much the entire historic centre of Rothenburg. Are squares, towers, small and large buildings in classic German style (interwoven walls of overlap), all very colorful, that make the city a charm. The Windows of bakeries and Christmas decorations help beautify even more all over town. Not to be missed!

  • Best view point in the tower. I suggest to go up to the tower inspite of narrow steps. You can pay the entrance fee at the top.
  • Beautiful medieval town, though too many tourists. It's a bit crazy that all of the churches here ask for an entrance fee. The town hall itself is beautiful, if you are visiting this city you must visit.
  • View from atop the tower is worth it. Seeing the sprawling walls all around is stunning. Best way to get a lay of the land before wandering town.
  • A very nice medieval city which unfortunately seems a bit too touristic now. Nevertheless, if you are in the area it's worth stopping for a few hours and looking around.
  • An lovely place to visit. I just love the architecture.
