Old Town, Rothenburg

4.9
Experience the enchantment of medieval Germany in Rothenburg's Old Town. Comprising part of the famous Romantic Road, the neighborhood is considered one of the country's most well-preserved medieval quarters. Its 13th-century architecture is enclosed by the old city wall. Tour the antique storefronts and medieval houses that line the cobblestone streets. Then climb the 61 m (200 ft) tall Roedertor tower to admire the city's signature red-roof skyline. Don't leave before trying the traditional Schneeballen, or sugar-covered fried dough. To visit Old Town and other attractions in Rothenburg, use our Rothenburg trip builder app .

I just loved this beautiful medieval town. My companion and I passionate about the time medieval, we were overwhelmed. The eve city is simply sublime, I wanted to photograph every street corner, every house. Every corner of the old city is enhanced by trees, flowers, beautiful houses. The walls are impressive, many Tower can be visited for free, there are plenty of things to see in every corner of the city. There are many explanatory panels in the city in German and English. Car parks located outside the old city are well-placed and decent prices (5 euros per day). I loved the choice of shops exactly in our tastes: medieval items, stained glass art, doilies, miniatures, Christmas items. The merchants were very friendly and especially not oppressive like this is often the case in tourist areas. We ate at two restaurants, good quality and price. Rothenburg won us, a new stopover during the holiday season of Christmas or a medieval event is imperative! Congratulations to residents and City Hall for the maintenance and development of this great heritage!

I believe that this is the most beautiful city in Germany, and possibly Europe. This is a complete delight, here you can stroll endlessly! Gingerbread houses are all different. People in August, much, but not critical. I would happily lived here a couple of nights.
