Sankt Marien Kirche, Rostock

(4.7/5 based on 200+ reviews on the web)
Although thousands of visitors come to admire Sankt Marien Kirche, the attraction is known mainly as a community gathering place. Locals come to worship beneath the arches and elaborately detailed altar. Visitors often join them, then continue their visit among the artworks on display in the chapel. The organs are the pride of the cathedral and are often used as part of the concerts that take place regularly from May to October. You can arrange private concerts and demonstrations by contacting the attraction before your tour; click on the "musik" (music) tab on its website. Before bringing your visit to a close, pop by Café Marientreff, which is housed in one of the former chapels. • This church in Rostock is overwhelming. Especially the astronomical clock is worth a visit. It is a very light Church. Restoration works are at the moment but this not really interfere during the tour. No entrance fee is required but a small donation is very welcome and we gave them very gladly.

  • The highlights of the Church is the large organ, and especially the astronomical clock from the 14th century.
