Sankt Marien Kirche, Rostock
(4.7/5 based on 190+ reviews on the web)
Although thousands of visitors come to admire Sankt Marien Kirche, the attraction is known mainly as a community gathering place. Locals come to worship beneath the arches and elaborately detailed altar. Visitors often join them, then continue their visit among the artworks on display in the chapel. The organs are the pride of the cathedral and are often used as part of the concerts that take place regularly from May to October. You can arrange private concerts and demonstrations by contacting the attraction before your tour; click on the "musik" (music) tab on its website. Before bringing your visit to a close, pop by Café Marientreff, which is housed in one of the former chapels. • Despite the fact that this magnificent Church is under restoration, it's an experience to look into and walk around the Church. It is almost a must when you are in Rostock

  • During a visit to Rostock, the Church should not be missed. Although at present inside lot is being renovated it is always worth a visit. The clock is unique. It takes time to understand how it works. But also on the ground, make sure what they are. Hundreds old gravestones, partly from the 14th century. Even the very old and beautiful organ, there is hardly anywhere else see. Take with a Glücksttaler of St. Mary's Church. Or a part of the rock which is just behind the entrance and can be taken for a donation.

  • I did not visit the Bell Tower. In a hurry we saw the Church ... Particular: small model ships to cascade from the times

  • The highlights of the Church is the large organ, and especially the astronomical clock from the 14th century.
