Burg Ronneburg, Ronneburg
(4.3/5 based on 70+ reviews on the web)
Built mostly in the 16th century, Burg Ronneburg has a kitchen fire that's always burning during visiting hours, so you can feel the heat that a cook once slaved over. Another functioning piece of the castle is the treadmill that pulls water from the 96 m (315 ft) well inside the walls. The museum is a series of rooms dotted with furniture designed to mimic the 16th-century originals. Some of these are still painted with murals from the period. • Great Christmas market. Made with lots of love. The visit to the castle is also very nice. There is also the possible watch a medieval market.

  • This year, a medieval Christmas market at Ronneburg Castle takes place on the first 3 weekends in advent of again. In contrast to the urban Christmas markets, here you find peace, unusual gift ideas and small delicious specialities to eat and drink. In addition we encounter Knights, damsels, Handmaids, forging, heralds, fool u.v.m., you can sit around the open Campfire and watching the spectacle of one or the other. The Christmas market is included in the entrance fee of €6,00 per adult, you can look at the Castle and climb the Castle Tower (partially very steep stairs), and enjoy a wonderful view. Also, the kiosk in the castle is open. €2.00 in the Meadow parking costs per car, from there it is only a few meters to the entrance of the Castle. The castle is very well preserved, it is not only a ruin.

  • Amazingly beautiful castle in Ronnenburge, is very similar to a fairytale castle with turrets, Fortress wall, various buildings. Unusually harmoniously integrated in the landscape. We were in the winter, the Museum is closed until March, can be viewed only from the outside. But the outside is impressive, visit worth it.
