Schloss Favorite, Rastatt

#2 of 6 in Things to do in Rastatt
Discover the opulent interiors of one of Germany's finest Baroque buildings, Schloss Favorite, the oldest of the so-called "porcelain palaces." Once a pleasure and hunting palace used by the widow of Louis William, an imperial general and ruler of Baden, the castle now houses a large collection of Chinese porcelain and lacquered ornamental objects. Originally only used for several weeks a year, the castle grounds became an idyllic setting for extravagant concerts, banquets, and hunting parties. Today, the palace is open to visitors, offering not only a look at the world's largest collection of porcelain, but also a rare insight into the lives of Europe's wealthy rulers. Be sure to spend a little time strolling through the palace's sprawling English gardens. Check online for opening times, guided tours, and ticket prices. • Alone the style and the style of the facade are worth more than a glance. Set in a great Park both strolling and picnicking or play invites. As also no direct traffic there approved is a good place to relax and slow down.

  • A charming discovery, the favorite summer Lodge. Visit and book in the summer palace tour is always worthwhile. After a walk through the beautiful small Palace park and possibly coffee and cake at the local coffee. That's nice wine time if the lock is closed.

  • It's a quaint little summer palace outside of Baden-Baden. Not your usual tourist spot but definitely a pleasant place for yoga, jogging or walking. The inside of the palace will only be open for visit after the 15 March as they are normally closed during winter.
  • One of the most beautiful castles in Germany
  • It seemed nice, but the whole outside was wrapped up in construction so we were only there for about 10 minutes. We didn't try to go inside, so I don't know if it's still open but I would assume it is as there were people there.
  • Another beautiful castle of Rastatt. With extensive gardens and a quality architecture, this castle worth visiting.
  • Very pretty interior, but visit requires guided tour in German only.
