Schloss Favorite, Rastatt

(4.2/5 based on 75+ reviews on the web)
Discover the opulent interiors of one of Germany's finest Baroque buildings, Schloss Favorite, the oldest of the so-called "porcelain palaces." Once a pleasure and hunting palace used by the widow of Louis William, an imperial general and ruler of Baden, the castle now houses a large collection of Chinese porcelain and lacquered ornamental objects. Originally only used for several weeks a year, the castle grounds became an idyllic setting for extravagant concerts, banquets, and hunting parties. Today, the palace is open to visitors, offering not only a look at the world's largest collection of porcelain, but also a rare insight into the lives of Europe's wealthy rulers. Be sure to spend a little time strolling through the palace's sprawling English gardens. Check online for opening times, guided tours, and ticket prices. • Unfortunately, I was never on a guided tour in the Schloss favorite, am but felt every week at least once in the castle garden, because it's my favorite course. The castle garden is lovingly designed and stunningly beautiful. The trees are very old and rare. Beautiful white swans and temporarily also nutria living in the pond. The sunbathing on the grass is not frowned upon, but you are welcome to. Weddings at the Castle are also possible and it is the perfect location for photos. There is also a cycle path in the castle garden, a café and on nice days even an ice cream truck. I love this little sweet Schlösschen❤.

  • A regular visit is simply for us. You have more heart a leisurely stroll, a delicious ice cream or a great piece of cake in the Café - what do want. In the spacious park with a natural lake can you wonderful stay and hope that the lonely Swan will again find a partner.

  • The Castle used as a pleasure and hunting residence "Favorite" is located directly opposite of the "big" Royal Palace. On a hill in the Favoritepark, it is located in direct axis north of the residence Palace Ludwigsburg. The Baroque chateau was 1717-1723 after plans of the court architect Donato Giuseppe Frisoni in the built on behalf of Duke Eberhard Ludwig. The beautiful Baroque building has a featured facilities in the Klassizismus.Die beautiful and spectacular interiors are only in the context of a possible leadership. The Duke Lamour that build small castle as a lock for fun. It is quite small and has a large ballroom. All rooms are furnished in original. Due to the renovation of the Castle, the guides are sometimes moved, but it's still ok.

  • It seemed nice, but the whole outside was wrapped up in construction so we were only there for about 10 minutes. We didn't try to go inside, so I don't know if it's still open but I would assume it is as there were people there.
  • Another beautiful castle of Rastatt. With extensive gardens and a quality architecture, this castle worth visiting.
  • Sher nett dort. Mit großer Parkanlagen zum realen. Super für einen Sonntagsausflug.
  • Very pretty interior, but visit requires guided tour in German only.
  • The unusual coffee both the position and the selection and quality of the cakes and pastries is something special. It is always a pleasure to visit this café. At the weekend it can be quite full so that it may be something must wait to get a place. The joy is then all the greater.
