Rastatt Castle (Schloss), Rastatt

(4.3/5 based on 90+ reviews on the web)
Wander the hallways of a grand castle at Rastatt Castle (Schloss), a summer home built between 1710 and 1730. Upper-class citizens used the castle as retreat during the warmer months, when the women would socialize and the men would hunt. See how wealthy Germans once lived, and also check out the sizeable collection of Chinese porcelain, black lacquer work, and Schwartz porcelain. Don't leave without exploring the military museum, too, where you can view swords, battlefield models, uniforms, and more dating from the Thirty Years War and World War I. If you are hoping for an English-speaking guided tour, be sure to make a reservation ahead of time; otherwise, you can join a German-speaking tour and follow along with an English-language brochure. Work out when and for how long to visit Rastatt Castle (Schloss) and other Rastatt attractions using our handy Rastatt itinerary builder.

  • We did already two various castle tours with various themes. Our guides were very skilled and very friendly.

  • The Palace is larger (if it comes to the sale to explore) and nicer than Mannheim and Bruchsal. Entrance is unfortunately only with a guide. Preserved was ok. 10 meeting rooms, from the Cabinet after sleeping, richly decorated with porcelain and other trinkets. Some rich decorating look stunning (especially mini porcelain room). In the lateral part of the Museum (without a guide), where the focus was on the Napoleonic wars, and H and marynistyce (thumbnails of the ships). It is worth to prepare a couple of hours.
