Sanssouci Park, Potsdam

4.7
Walk through the shaded rows of more than 3,000 fruit trees at Potsdam's Sanssouci Park. Surrounding the beautiful Sanssouci Palace, the park features 287 hectares (700 acres) of landscaped lawns, Baroque flower gardens, monumental statues, and fountains. You can tour the impressive collection of porcelain at the park's 18th-century Chinese teahouse. Then check out the 18 m (60 ft) tall Great Fountain in front of the grand palace. Consider bringing a picnic to enjoy at one of the many spots that overlook the palace grounds. • From the descriptions read I expected much more ... are compared with Luxemborg gardens in Paris but loving them and having been several times I can say it is not a correct picture. Are beautiful but impossible to live because around there is a chance to sit down and spend some time reading or doing nothing. Then walk off.

  • The visit was limited to the Park of the Palace of Sans Souci, but it was not to be missed. The Park, an immense, is set according to the patterns of the tradition of the Renaissance garden and the romantic, with glimpses, small buildings, magnificent prospects. Access to the Park is free.

  • The Park is best bit annoying I find the machines with the "voluntary entry" - and as if that would not be enough the donations recruiters are still at each entrance. Since I would expect even better care. Many of the hedges looked like they had not been cut months. If it unfortunately only comes around noon as we, you would wait times of up to 4 hours for the visit of Sanssouci. It's a pity that no slot in the Internet can apparently be reserved.

  • This palace was amazing! Absolutely gorgeous. The outside is spectacular but the inside will blow your mind. We went with Viking River Cruises and our guide was very knowledgeable. The only thing I did not like was the 2 euro charge to take photos inside the palace. It is worth it though. I had chosen not to pay, and I regret it because of the considerable beauty inside. Highly recommended visit.
  • Great place to visit. A must if you come to Potsdam for sure. A guided visit is recommended so that you get the full picture of what the gardens represent. In winter the statues are covered with small sheds, so you'd better come in summer.
  • Beautiful place to spend some time. Incredible old world craftsmanship. Lovely setting. Great views. Memorable stop on our trip.
  • A beautiful palace and park area with some historical content and well preserved rooms considering the time and events past. The detail and craft past artisans have put into the buildings will be interesting to those who like historical buildings and architecture.
  • We visited on a cold rainy day in December. All the statues were protected by wooden boxes and the gardens were ready for the winter. This is far from the best time to see the Park, but to truly understand a garden, you should know it in all its seasons.
