Sanssouci Park, Potsdam

4.7
Walk through the shaded rows of more than 3,000 fruit trees at Potsdam's Sanssouci Park. Surrounding the beautiful Sanssouci Palace, the park features 287 hectares (700 acres) of landscaped lawns, Baroque flower gardens, monumental statues, and fountains. You can tour the impressive collection of porcelain at the park's 18th-century Chinese teahouse. Then check out the 18 m (60 ft) tall Great Fountain in front of the grand palace. Consider bringing a picnic to enjoy at one of the many spots that overlook the palace grounds. • From the descriptions read I expected much more ... are compared with Luxemborg gardens in Paris but loving them and having been several times I can say it is not a correct picture. Are beautiful but impossible to live because around there is a chance to sit down and spend some time reading or doing nothing. Then walk off.

  • The visit was limited to the Park of the Palace of Sans Souci, but it was not to be missed. The Park, an immense, is set according to the patterns of the tradition of the Renaissance garden and the romantic, with glimpses, small buildings, magnificent prospects. Access to the Park is free.

  • The Park is best bit annoying I find the machines with the "voluntary entry" - and as if that would not be enough the donations recruiters are still at each entrance. Since I would expect even better care. Many of the hedges looked like they had not been cut months. If it unfortunately only comes around noon as we, you would wait times of up to 4 hours for the visit of Sanssouci. It's a pity that no slot in the Internet can apparently be reserved.

  • A must see day-trip about 30 min from Berlin by train. Make sure to get the pass that includes Potsdam. Beautifully designed gardens that are the German rejoinder to France's Versailles. The area is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and lives up to the billing.
  • Beautifully landscaped grounds for the former Kaisers. The fig tree "doors" are really nice and they had just put out the citrus trees when we were in Berlin area in mid May.
  • Absolutely fantastic example of neo- classicism architecture combined with beautiful park and botanic garden. Must see!
  • Peaceful and beautiful park. There are a few cafés and restaurants within the park you can enjoy. But I recommend get a picnic basket and choose a nice spot on a sunny day and relax.
  • On of my retreat places. The park is so large that in the outer parts it is never crowded, even when there are a lot of tourists at the palace. Winter, spring, summer or autumn - no matter the season, this historical place will recharge your "inner battery" in no time.
