Walk through the shaded rows of more than 3,000 fruit trees at Potsdam's Sanssouci Park. Surrounding the beautiful Sanssouci Palace, the park features 287 hectares (700 acres) of landscaped lawns, Baroque flower gardens, monumental statues, and fountains. You can tour the impressive collection of porcelain at the park's 18th-century Chinese teahouse. Then check out the 18 m (60 ft) tall Great Fountain in front of the grand palace. • Built in part by Peter Joseph Lenné, the most talented landscape gardener Prussia, Sanssouci Park takes about 300 hectares and has several hundred species of trees. Various palaces and buildings were constructed between 1744 and 1860. A world heritage site since the year 1990, it is a combination of landscape and architecture is without doubt one of the most successful of its kind in Germany. Among the series of small gardens don't miss the Sicilian garden, situated in the Renaissance style.

  • The park is so well maintained. The canal/lake had frozen over and people were playing ice hockey and skating on it. It was extremely vibrant. Loved it.  more »
  • At first I went to the bridge near the palace (its the same entrance). It was a winter day with rain and fog, which contributed to the atmosphere. next step was going down to the garden, A very preety...  more »

  • A well laid and beautiful castle park.It is well maintained and is worthwhile going around. We visited in early spring, when most statues and fountains were tidy. In all it even so it was a wonderful experience. There is a very nice souvenir shop at the new palace- real souvenirs from the castle.
  • Really cool place to go and spend some time there. I recommend to go there after mid April because is when the statues are stored in some boxes during winter. You have to go there comfortable because you have to walk a lot!
  • I visited Sanssouci in winter, probably not the best idea as all the statues are in wooden boxes to protect them from frost. The grounds are still beautiful though, just make sure you plan plenty of time as they’re massive. I will definitely be revisiting in spring.
  • If you love the style of late 18th century, garden walks and pompous palace buildings, this place is for you. Several beautiful renovated buildings that can be visited inside, mostly with audio guide in several language available, make for a perfect day spent somewhere away from our time. I would always recommend a day pass and audio guides.
  • There are no words that can describe this place. Such a treat to go in side the park. Children are welcome as well. Level of care for this park is incredible. And park is free.
