Potsdam's Gardens, Potsdam

Churchill, Stalin, and Truman met at Potsdam's Gardens to decide how to establish post-war order at the end of the World War II. This area is renowned as a stellar example of design that combines fine architecture with a respect for the existing natural landscapes. Palaces and parks line the banks of the Havel river. The gardens often host important cultural, social, and political events. Covering more than 500 hectares (1,235 acres), this World Heritage site's 150 buildings were constructed between 1730 and 1916. • Potsdam is the highlight of a Berlin visit, because the top sights are just a 45-minute drive from Central Berlin away. Very Sans Souci liked us, but also the Baroque ensemble of the University of Potsdam is masterful!

  • In winter tapan statues so loses 40% of charm and added that the gardens are withered. I was in a sunny day and it is worth even with the statues covered since it is majestic, but would recommend better another time if you can choose. There are long distances between palaces which is recommended for a quiet and relaxed day leisurely. If you can visit him... you do not repent. Eye! Do not ask for a map at the Tourist Office for charge €1 and not enlightened you nothing.

  • Great botanical garden with a wide selection of plants from all over the world. Students go for free!
  • There are several building with a green house for the university. The green house is not big, but with a lot of plant collections. Most of the plants are commend for California, but for the cold weather, they have to stay in green house in the winter.
  • Incredible botanic collection.
  • We are again happy to here with our children. Our highlights are the turtles and the giant water lilies. A little tropical feeling in winter. The admission price is very fair.
