Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
A fairy tale setting come to life, Castle Marienburg rises above a landscape of rolling hills in the lush valley of the Leine River. Once a royal summer residence, the castle was originally a gift from King George V of Hanover to his wife, Queen Marie (hence the name). Today, the majestic castle is considered one of the finest examples of neo-Gothic architecture in the country. Parts of the castle are open to the public, such as the on-site museum, restaurant, and chapel. Explore the interior on a guided tour, which provides a rare chance to see what life at a royal court used to be like. You can also visit the official website for information about upcoming concerts, exhibitions, and other special events. • There is nothing around the Castle alone. Will guide you on a tour inside the Castle. It was a 8 Euro. Climb the tower is required separately 4 Euro. Explain in Germany will lend audio guide in English. Japan is not. Various objects in the horse-drawn carriage to avoid some small attractions. I think that was as good as the location is not great, and never learn the history.

  • We drove out from Hannover, about an half hours drive. Beautifull castle. The tours are all in german with an English voice guide. We did all three tours and had a lovely lunch at the restaurant. The ...  read more »
  • The trip is worth it. Very easy to get there and, at least on weekends, the bus does take you very close to the castle (on week-days you may have to walk about 1mile, or at least I was told so). From ...  read more »
  • Amazing castle close to Hannover (30 km from the city center). Completely recommended visit! :D
  • Such a cool place to visit! Beautiful picture spot and the inside is amazing!
  • The 360 shot's are amazing so vivid. Like being there!!!
  • This is a Fantasy or fairy-tale castle, High Gothic style and very impressive architecture. However, it a adventurous looking castle without and adventure! The place is sealed off tight in most any places and there are 2 tours of the place, one to the tower and one through some 6 rooms and a hallway. The Tower is ½ hour, and you dont go all way up. view is nice though. The guided tour seemed overly prolonged to me, the guide talking endlessly and people just standing there- then moving on before really having a good look around on the things. - Also no films or picture taking allowed- even without bliz- :( Impressive rooms, but I prefer exploring the place, and at Marienburg you CANT. You go where allowed (witch is maybe 25% of the castle) and thats it. The outer wall is inaccessible. Looks good from the distance (stay at a distance)
  • Nice neogothic castle.
