Jagdschloss Granitz, Ostseebad Binz

(4.2/5 based on 280+ reviews on the web)
Once a popular holiday destination for European nobility, Jagdschloss Granitz was commissioned by the Prince of Putbus and built between 1838 and 1846. The castle remained in the hands of the Putbus family until the 1940s, when the Nazis seized it. The structure now functions as a museum operated by the state. Walk through the many rooms to learn about the history of the castle and to see the collection of old hunting rifles and furnishings from the 19th century. Head up the cantilevered cast-iron staircase of the main tower for sprawling views in all directions. • You reach of BINZ on a direct way or many detours to the Jagdschloss Granitz. Depending on how to plan his route in advance there are between 3.5 km - 6 km. Arrived at the Castle, you can enjoy in the "old distillery" and then visit the temporary exhibitions in the Castle. Highlight is of course the Tower climb. From there, you can enjoy incredibly wide and beautiful views in good weather.

  • Granitz hunting Castle is a must when visiting the island of Rügen. A beautiful vacation day make up the great views, the wonderful plant and the rustic restaurant.

  • On top of Garcia - the hunting lodge. Quickly from the catalog, a castle to built prefabricated. Then nailed hunting trophies on the walls and installed an airy iron staircase in the Castle Tower. A beautiful illusion and a test of courage for those who climbed with fear of heights on the tower is ready! Worth a visit!

  • Good location, food, exhibition. Altogether more than OK for a not very long visit.
  • Nice to see if you are in the region. Tower offers nice view over the whole island
  • Very nice castle, very clean. You can get a great view from the tower.
  • A total rip-off. The rate at the parking lot is € 2 per hour. Knowing that going up and down takes more than an hour, you always pay much more. The parking lots are situated 2 km from the Schloss. If you don't want to spend an hour walking or have difficulty walking, you pay another € 8 for a ride up and down the hill with a stupid touristic train or carriage. Then at the gate of the Schloss, you have to pay another entrance fee. While it is announced at the parking lot that you have to pay inside the Schloss, it's actually outside and you're not even allowed to look at the Schloss from the outside and make a picture without paying. Then if you're stupid enough to pay, for every market booth you have to pay again for whatever they sell to tourists. The staff is very unfriendly - they see tourists only as cash cows and rather see them leave the island if they don't bring money. Rügen at its worst!
  • Great Castle, super all represented. The tower and the stairs are absolute top. Why here but someone a quality mark (??) missing, is absolutely beyond me. The historical (!) Stairs made of steel is absolutely stable, and the in - and outlet to the tower is controlled by employees.
