Create an itinerary including Granitz Hunting Lodge
Once a popular holiday destination for European nobility, Granitz Hunting Lodge was commissioned by the Prince of Putbus and built between 1838 and 1846. The castle remained in the hands of the Putbus family until the 1940s, when the Nazis seized it. The structure now functions as a museum operated by the state. Walk through the many rooms to learn about the history of the castle and to see the collection of old hunting rifles and furnishings from the 19th century. Head up the cantilevered cast-iron staircase of the main tower for sprawling views in all directions. Plan your visit to Granitz Hunting Lodge and a wealth of other attractions, well-known and undiscovered, using our Ostseebad Binz trip maker app.

  • I did not know what to expect when we got to this place, but the building is really something. Filled with old artifacts, antlers and paintings. And the view from the top tower is really beautiful.

  • The exhibit is really nicely set up. I liked most the „living book“ where you turn a page and the multimedia presentation starts or adjusts accordingly. Make sure you climb the special stairs up into....  more

  • Great experience - wish we'd ridden bikes up instead of walking though. Beautiful views, interesting history, great collection in the museum.
  • Super castle with fantastic stairs leading to the top of the tower, where You have an amazing view on Rügen and beyond.
  • Impressive castle with a tower there you have a spectacular view over Rügen Island.
  • Very nice place for hiking. The fort is surrounded by the forest, and many hiking paths around it. It is nice to combine your trip with the historical Steam train ride. When we visited this place, main tower was not open for visitors. And paying ticket price of 4 EUR is not worth for the only museum. It would have been nice to look at the forest from the top of the tower.
  • Amazing place. Cost is very reasonable (€6 per adult). Easy to get to (take bus 28). Nice Biergarten to have a bier and food while waiting for the return bus.
