  • The castle was beautiful surrounded by vineyards. Nice to visit here, especially because there is no admission cost. The climb to the castle was very steep.

  • The castle ruins is located in the forest on a hill overlooking Oberkirch and is good to find, but to achieve something in a steep and narrow. Once at the top, there are several parking lots, you can run but also of Oberkirch Castle (CA. 20 min.). The restaurant has an outdoor area, directly below the Castle. Salads are as highly recommended. In summer, there are always events at the restaurant with live music and entertainment. The castle itself can be reached by a stair climb, at the foot of the walls, you can walk around the Castle. The views over the Rhine Valley is up to the Vosges mountains to admire it from here. A further staircase leads to the Castle, from which the most of the parts of the building are accessible. Sitting on the wall and enjoy the sunset is indeed beautiful, but not so much seen by the owner. Necessarily take the waste back, a zugemüllte Castle is not a pretty sight! Many hiking trails, for example in the direction of striping Bach, run it in all directions tanveer Saleem, swallow stone, etc., but is very well signposted by the Schwarzwaldverein. In the summer or in the direction of autumn there is here also a wine walk through the vineyards, new year's Eve traditionally morning Cannon shooting. The castle is definitely worth a visit and is worth a visit for locals and visitors alike!

  • The Schauenburg is located on a hilltop on the edge of the Black Forest and offers as a Super view on the Rhine plain and Strasbourg and the Vosges mountains on the horizon and into the black forest. Strasbourg is also the historical "opponents" of the former Lords of the Castle ("dictus malus procter imititiam contra strasburgensis"). The castle was never conquered by direct attack, only through betrayal. Therefore, any damage do not come due to war or siege, but because the citizens of Gaisbachs have removed the stones to surrender of the Castle and built their own homes so that. The ruin was protected only from further decay, therefore it offers an original impression of life in the middle ages, in particular in the special form of the Ganerben Castle (a kind of WAY by various nobles in the same Castle).

  • Very friendly. Good, rich and hearty food. I was with a group there and everybody was very happy.

  • Great economy, good food and drink. A light under occupation of the staff, it is somewhat uncoordinated at full House. The service is friendly after all. The Castle nights are my recommendation in the summer - live music with great views.

  • A beautiful ambience from up here at height of the Castle. Beautiful grounds.

  • Long waiting times, harness was removed any question of coffee and as we the dessert in the restaurant ordered (because no one was), it was forgotten. Also expensive. Certainly not worth visiting. Better, bring a picnic to the Castle and above enjoy.
