St. Lorenz, Nuremberg

4.8
#2 of 15 in Historic Sites in Nuremberg
St. Lorenz stands as one of the most prominent Evangelical Lutheran churches in Bavaria. Admire the Gothic architecture outside and the many artworks inside. You'll find pieces by famous German artists such as Veit Stoss, Adam Kraft, and Peter Vischer the Elder. The gothic choir of the church, started by medieval master mason Konrad Roriczer, is particularly striking. If you're lucky, you may get to hear some music played on one of Europe's largest organs. • We visited this church in the morning, with a great light. Rich in works of art, beautifully preserved, interesting architecturally, was impeccably rebuilt after the war, worth a visit.

  • Very intrigued by the tantalizing effects of this Ancient church in downtown Nuremberg . It's superbly magnificent
  • It is one of the most beautiful old church in Nuremberg
  • This is a normal Gothic Church, however this was destroyed during WW2 so was rebuilt , this has been a great work, only if you read the history you realize of that since the whole building looks old, in other hand the rebuilding still in progress, so you can find some people working during your visit. Must see!!

Where to stay in Nuremberg

The Altstadt and the Egidienviertel districts, the city's historical sections, provide an array of guesthouses and hotels. An alternative is the Gostenhof area, a suburban region with a selection of tourist sites. If you stay in Gostenhof, however, you need to take public transportation to the city center. For local flair, consider staying in the Knoblauchsland district near the Hauptmarkt. Avoid the Südstadt district near the train station, which is mainly residential and doesn't offer many entertainment options or access to sites.
