  • In this Court, between the ' 45 and ' 46, were tried for crimes against humanity Nazi officers taken prisoner after the war. Nuremberg was chosen over that symbolic reasons, because the Court is attached to the adjacent prison by an underground tunnel, which still exists. Easy to reach on the U1 from anywhere in the city.

  • In the building itself, alas, do not hit-1 January nothing has worked, and we were in Nuremberg in just 24 hours. But could not drive up for a Russian man who lost everything in the war, grandfather and great-grandfather is a must!

  • The Palace of Justice in Nuremberg is home to one of the most important events in recent history: starting from 20 November 1945, in the Hall of 600 of the Assize Court, took the criminal trials against war crimes, on the initiative of the Criminal Court He wanted to punish 24 international organisations with different hierarchical Nazis and allegations including "conspiracy against world peace" and "crimes against humanity". Metro line U1, station Barenschanze. 10:00/18:00 hours, cost 6 euros (Italian language audio included). A must see.

  • Huge, historical, with nice architecture justice building complex. This is the place which the famous trials of Nuremberg(actually there were thirteen and not one) of Nuremberg, took place. Museum exists, witch provides useful information for the important historical impact of the place.
  • If you know what this place meant, you have to be there. If you are not that familiar, take your time to read and understand the impact.
  • Free entrance and audioguide w/ the Nuremberg card. Make sure you set aside at least 3 hours if you want to see/listen to everything the museum has to offer.
  • Enter the historic courtroom. Walk where war criminals and their prosecutors walked. Imagine being there during the trials. It is not hard to do.
  • It's definitely interesting to see the venue of the Nuremberg trials if you're in the city. But you can only see the courtroom and another room with a looot of information, not much more further objects, rooms or prison cells. I would create a 'fast track' circuit so that you don't have to listen to everything in your Audioguide for 2 hours if you're not a history freak but just the basic stuff. The entrance fee of 5 EUR per adult is cheap. But it's a must when in Nuremberg.

Where to stay in Nuremberg

The Altstadt and the Egidienviertel districts, the city's historical sections, provide an array of guesthouses and hotels. An alternative is the Gostenhof area, a suburban region with a selection of tourist sites. If you stay in Gostenhof, however, you need to take public transportation to the city center. For local flair, consider staying in the Knoblauchsland district near the Hauptmarkt. Avoid the Südstadt district near the train station, which is mainly residential and doesn't offer many entertainment options or access to sites.
