  • The Church Of St. Jegid'ena (Egidienkirche) at Egidienplatz area of the same name. This Protestant Church, built in the 18th century is the only preserved in Nuremberg, the Church in Baroque style with some fragments of Romanesque style. The Church was rebuilt after the war, because the fires following the bombings heavily damaged the Interior and facades of the temple.

  • Beautiful baroque church in the city centre which was damaged due to the war. The new current interior design is kept simple. The Egidienkirche is a cultural Church, which offers various forms of worship to the theme culture and Church.

  • Egidienkirche is one of Nuremberg's only church in Baroque style, built in 1711-1718. Formerly lay on the same place a Romanesque Basilica, begun around 1120. The Church and the adjoining monastery went completely lost in a fire in 1696. Like so many other churches in Germany, were also damaged in the last part of bad Egidienkirche the second world war. 2. January 1945 the bombs struck down here. After the war, it was decided to rebuild the Church, which is largely succeeded. The Church's interior is not as before. The rich stucco and ceiling painting could not be restored. There are extant images of the Church from before the attack in 1945, and here you can see the Church's original and splendid interior. Noteworthy is the elongated korrum behind the beautiful bronze cross performed by Rudolf Gröschel. In korrummet there is a restored stucco on the ceiling, and you get an impression of the Church's original opulence. Are you interested in ecclesiastical art and culture, a visit to Egidienkirche is recommended!
