4.5/5 based on 110+ reviews on the web
St. Georg Dom, a Gothic church set in a medieval walled town, is best known for its bell tower, which rises high above the surrounding village. Be sure to climb to the top, where you will be awarded with views of the old gates and wall, as well as the countryside beyond. The town itself was built inside a meteor crater, and you can see the rim of the crater when the weather is clear. • This massive cathedral was built from suevite, which is vulnerable to environmental damage due to its porosity. At the moment, you can see at a construction site at Daniel, the high steeple, 'Artificial stones', which contain little suevite and thus should be more stable. Interestingly one of the Ulm building masters in planning to have been involved. For an Evangelical Church, it has many paintings to my feeling. The epitaphs are a special feature. A visit is worthwhile.

  • A trip up the bell tower at this beautiful church is a must see. You get the most amazing uninterrupted views of the old town and the surrounding areas.
  • The Evangelical Church stands in the middle of the old town of Nördlingen and is open continuously during the day. During a visit you will find powerful pillars and a choir room with two organs. That's it then.
