Tierpark Hellabrunn, Munich

4.5
#1 of 20 in Zoos & Aquariums in Bavaria
Zoo / Aquarium Nature / Park
Witness hundreds of animals in uncaged environments at Munich's Tierpark Hellabrunn. The world's first geo-zoo, this attraction features open-concept displays. The animals are organized by geographical origin instead of species. You can visit the Jungle House to see dozens of chimpanzees, gorillas, and alligators. You also might wander through the walk-through aviary or elephant house. Kids love visiting the Touch Paddock petting zoo. Check the website ahead of time for a complete list of feeding times and special animal-handling shows. • There is much to discover at the Tierpark Hellabrunn. The daily training of birds of prey or the commented feedings of King penguins or the chimpanzees and gorillas are highly recommended. It is a beautiful animal park, with many shrubs and shade trees, restaurants and Cafés. Back at the polar world is built, there arises the new mill village, there also the bridge due to modification is locked. A walk through the Park is recommended!

  • I visited the Zoo with my 6-jährigem Godson and we had a super great time. Although only 6 years old, he has endured 5 hours... my Empfehlung-ceiling and snack take, take a break in between and spend the whole day at the Zoo. The enclosures are beautifully arranged and tlw, there were animals that we had - never seen such as the Maned Wolf. Would I live in Munich I had a season ticket!

  • The Zoo is very pretty created with streams and many trees, pleasant shade even during hot weather. Meals (especially drinks) ticket prices are very overpriced (pizza at the rhino Cafe but with fresh ingredients and very tasty), for moderate. Unfortunately, very many enclosures were empty, partly due to restructuring, partly without apparent reason. And the Zoo-Aquarium was not accessible due to a flooding in half. As a result many main attractions were (sharks, polar world, orang utans,...) not to see what you have can compensate by a discount. All in all but a beautiful day with the whole family.

  • Great attraction with lots to see! Huge variety of animals from many continents! When I went there were a few baby animals, which was a huge pro, but quite a few places were under construction, which was a bit of a let down
  • Great zoo. I went early in the morning and the crowds were not too bad. One tip is to bring cash. The ticket agent at the zoo said they cannot accept any cards except German bank cards. Good thing I had Euro on me.
  • Huge variety, map outlines a path to take to view all the animals which is helpful. A few café/restaurants/beer gardens sprinkled throughout. Noticed that even for a zoo, it was on the smellier side (making some of the food locations less desirable than others)
  • It's the Munich's zoo. Great for families with kids. On weekends and holidays with good weather it's crazy full. But the animals seems to have it good there and worth a visit (or two).
  • Munich zoo is a great place. Not only are the animals very interesting (especially the apes) but all infratstructures are good. Paradise for children!

Where to stay in Munich

The St. Paul district is the site of Munich's yearly Oktoberfest and offers easy access to the city center. You may be able to find accommodation deals in the Am Schlachthof district, which is populated with small businesses and artists. Glockenbachviertel is the center of the city's nightlife with bars, clubs, and restaurants lining the streets. In contrast, Am alten Südfriedhof is a quiet residential district.
