Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm, Munich

#38 of 545 in Things to do in Munich
Landmark · Hidden Gem · Tourist Spot
One of the finest restaurants in Munich, Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm was a gift to the city from Elector Karl Theodor in the 18th century. The Chinese Tower, inspired by Buddhist temples, makes a paradoxical backdrop to the restaurant's more casual beer garden. The beer garden's tables sprawl out under the tower beneath the trees. Hofbraeuhaus is accompanied by sausages, bratwursts, sauerkraut, and beans. You can make reservations at the fine-dining restaurant inside the building, but at the beer garden, just plop down and order up the local brew. • Very crowded. Excellent basic German food; enormous steins of beer; this is a typical beer garden and is well worth a visit.  more »

  • This is the beer garden you want to visit when you are in Munich. It is the second largest beer garden of the city. Authentic Bayern food and good vibe. Good value too!
  • Awesome on a summer day. Great beer and some delicious German food.
  • Big place, lovely place for a nice food and beer to sit with friends. No service to the table, so it's more suitable to sit and talk after/before a walk around the park nearby.
  • Life time experience....
  • I stumbled upon this while walking through the English Garden. I saw they had white sausages (weisswurst) and decided to try them, they were tasty. Outdoor service area cafeteria-style where you point to or ask for what you’d like, then pay at the register, then sit at the benches
