Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm, Munich

Categories: Food & Drink
Inspirock Rating:
4.1/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web
One of the finest restaurants in Munich, Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm was a gift to the city from Elector Karl Theodor in the 18th century. The Chinese Tower, inspired by Buddhist temples, makes a paradoxical backdrop to the restaurant's more casual beer garden. The beer garden's tables sprawl out under the tower beneath the trees. Hofbraeuhaus is accompanied by sausages, bratwursts, sauerkraut, and beans. You can make reservations at the fine-dining restaurant inside the building, but at the beer garden, just plop down and order up the local brew. • Environment: very nice, spacious lounge, in an old building opposite the Chinese Tower. Service: the hostess was dry (usual in Germany). The waitress was pretty nice, speaking in English, but I was Overfilled and it would take a long time to bring the dishes or us. Food: very good. The entry was exceptional (beef carpaccio with a salad). Generous dessert. Price: a little more expensive, as in qq biergarden. Ask about the specials of the day (2 or 3 dishes menu) q is not placed on the menu in English. Cost benefit: very good. Worth the experience.

  • A cosy beer garden is unfortunately insanely overpriced despite its size, the beer, which her own beer, or a shot in your pocket or backpack while have no wonder that you can see people everywhere at the tables.

  • Fantastic place to get the true Munich beer garden experience. The gardens leading up to the area are fantastic and beautiful. The food within the beer garden is good quality and large portions. Must try the pork knuckle and the 1/2 chicken. Grab a stein of beer while you spend the day people watching. It gets very crowded during lunch time and is visited by a lot of tourists.
  • One of my favourite beer garten. Lot of my turist came hier and have a good time
  • Have visited here several times including during several Octoberfests. Last visit was as a couple and during an afternoon for a beer and light bites whilst weather was good. Simple setup and service but nice spot
  • One of the biggest Biergarten in Munich (appr. 7000 sit places). Food is good, beer is fresh. Prices are average (appr. 30 EUR for 2 persons)
  • Food was pretty pricey, but the experience was great! It's a nice place to relax and grab a bite after a long walk in the English Garden! The German brass band plays a good bit of music throughout your stay, and if it's a beautiful day you could just stay there and relax and soak in the sun. If you're getting a beer and don't want to keep the cup there is a return center for the cup, which you get 1 euro back for. In most cases, people keep the cup because of the value. Its definitely worth going to once!
