Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm, Munich
(4.1/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
One of the finest restaurants in Munich, Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm was a gift to the city from Elector Karl Theodor in the 18th century. The Chinese Tower, inspired by Buddhist temples, makes a paradoxical backdrop to the restaurant's more casual beer garden. The beer garden's tables sprawl out under the tower beneath the trees. Hofbraeuhaus is accompanied by sausages, bratwursts, sauerkraut, and beans. You can make reservations at the fine-dining restaurant inside the building, but at the beer garden, just plop down and order up the local brew. • Enjoyed the walk around the grounds followed by a good lunch of Wurst, press frites, salad and bee, pretzel. Very reasonable and good food.
  • Great environment that you create with the Christmas market. It's not massive like those in the Center but has it all.

  • Great atmosphere, tasty mulled wine but cold. Deposit return expired quickly and professionally with the cups. The Chilliknacker were excellent!

  • Wonderful Beer Garden in the park. Great atmosphere as the place can fit over 4,000 people. Bring your own food or buy from the self service area providing plenty of options for decent prices. Beers are €4.40 plus a €1 deposit for the glass. Be sure to return your glass with the token to receive your €1 back.
  • Fantastic place to get the true Munich beer garden experience. The gardens leading up to the area are fantastic and beautiful. The food within the beer garden is good quality and large portions. Must try the pork knuckle and the 1/2 chicken. Grab a stein of beer while you spend the day people watching. It gets very crowded during lunch time and is visited by a lot of tourists.
  • Really great place to enjoy a bavarian moment. There is a wonderful atmosphere.
  • Food was pretty pricey, but the experience was great! It's a nice place to relax and grab a bite after a long walk in the English Garden! The German brass band plays a good bit of music throughout your stay, and if it's a beautiful day you could just stay there and relax and soak in the sun. If you're getting a beer and don't want to keep the cup there is a return center for the cup, which you get 1 euro back for. In most cases, people keep the cup because of the value. Its definitely worth going to once!
  • Very overpriced for coffee and water. Toilets were very unclean. Ample seating.
