Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm, Munich

4.1
#42 of 333 in Things to do in Munich
One of the finest restaurants in Munich, Restaurant und Biergarten am Chinesischen Turm was a gift to the city from Elector Karl Theodor in the 18th century. The Chinese Tower, inspired by Buddhist temples, makes a paradoxical backdrop to the restaurant's more casual beer garden. The beer garden's tables sprawl out under the tower beneath the trees. Hofbraeuhaus is accompanied by sausages, bratwursts, sauerkraut, and beans. You can make reservations at the fine-dining restaurant inside the building, but at the beer garden, just plop down and order up the local brew. Could have stayed all day. Beer great, food reasonable and very tasty. Lovely setting and just a great place to relax and enjoy Munich in its natural habitat.  more »

Be more comfortable for an afternoon and evening with friends, children's spaces, great dinner with beer. Better not to think there might be for live Munich like the Germans

Not the cheapest place (10-15 per bit hungry-man also stayed in) but very good food. There are plenty of different kinds of sausage, ribs and shank available in good beers. In addition, you can experience a little Bavarian flair. If you walk on, be sure to look into this!

  • Tasty food, marvellous area. Self service makes it easy to serve yourself and enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Prices good enough. Portions big .
  • Good choice of food and atmosphere is great. There's lot of seating so it's great for big groups. Not the cheapest place around, but it is a great location for a beer and some lunch.
  • Extremely overpriced, as in all famous places in Münich. The view is nothing special, the Chinese thing is boring and not remarkable in any way. It is not worth the trip coming here. The food is good though, I recommend wiessbier and the sausage.
  • Nice Biergarten! As usual in bavaria, you can buy a beer but bring your own food if you want!
  • Great food in a wonderful location. Prices are good but make sure to check your change when you pay
