Olympiapark, Munich

4.4
#2 of 30 in Outdoors in Munich
You can climb the roof and bungee-jump into the famous Olympiapark, home of the 1972 Olympics. This stadium is one of the rare examples of infrastructure built for the Olympics that has remained in use long after the end of the event. It now hosts concerts, festivals, and even religious special occasions. The complex includes the stadium, swimming hall, ice rink, media center, tennis facility, Olympic village, and iconic 291 m (955 ft) tower. At the top of the tower is an observation platform and revolving restaurant. You can walk, cycle, inline skate, or jog around the lake. Or, you can rent a row or paddleboat. Check online for upcoming special events and guided tours. With our custom trip planner, Munich attractions like Olympiapark can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

The Olympic Park is huge and very spacious. Whether you want to play in the Sealife on the Olympic Tower or mini golf. There is something for everyone.

The Park is huge and offers something for everyone. The BMW museum, Sealifecenter & a kind of Carnival. Of course, there are also many food stalls & a beer garden. In addition, it invites to long walks.

It is a beautiful and a perfect venue for: walking, jugging, running or hiking(although it's a small hill, I had fun hiking to the top). It seems to be a good place for couples to hangout on the side ...  more »

  • Beautiful place! It is amazing to see that they still maintain perfectly objects and whole site even after 40 years since Olympic games. You can spend there whole day. I would suggest going there in nice weather in morning and going to BMW Museum afternoon. You can park car inside Olympiapark for 5€ whole day and go everywhere by foot.
  • Crazy long queues to get in with arbitrary rules for bag check and confiscation of items (no rechargeable mobile phone chargers allowed but people had e-cigarettes?!) I doubt any of these measures made the venue safer. No toilets at ground level meant having to navigate the steep stairs out of the stadium. Short queues to get food and drink and good sound gets the venue two stars, but I would go to any other stadium to see a band in Germany over this one. Shame as Munich is a lovely city.
  • Another beautiful park in Munich. Usually something is happening here and also good for biking and running. A must visit for everyone
  • A little bit remote place and very quite in the morning. Many people running or biking here. It has very beautiful lake which like an oase in the middle of steel structure.
  • The historical place where the Olympic games were held is a treat to the eyes. Lovely garden, a pond with boating facilities and a hill nearby from where we can enjoy lovely view of entire Munich city.

The St. Paul district is the site of Munich's yearly Oktoberfest and offers easy access to the city center. You may be able to find accommodation deals in the Am Schlachthof district, which is populated with small businesses and artists.
