Museum Villa Stuck, Munich

4.0
An outstanding example of an Art Nouveau interior, Museum Villa Stuck is a museum entirely devoted to the life and work of renowned artist Franz Stuck. Located in a historic mansion that was designed by Stuck and built in 1898, the museum now houses some of the artist's finest paintings. Stuck was deeply involved in every stage of the mansion's construction and decoration, even designing furniture, for which he won a gold medal at the 1900 Paris World Exposition. Though Stuck became known as the city's "prince of painters," many of his ardent admirers consider his most interesting and beautiful work the "Bronze Amazon," a sculpture now situated inside the museum's front portico. Beautiful interior that allows you to get an idea of the life of a bourgeois early 20th. Friendly salon tea but tiny portions :(

The Villa only maintains 2/3 rooms of the original; they are absolutely beautiful but, unless you are very interested in Von Stuck, not worth going there on purpose as the visit is going to be very sh...  more »

  • Always worth going. I love the special exhibitions. Manifesto in 02/2017 is a must.
  • A very unusual museum or rather a private collection made public of different works of art. Also the villa itself could be seen as a piece of art itself. Every room has it own style and feeling.
  • No English brochures for the house side of the museum. Was not impressed by the permanent collection. The photo exhibit was very good, though.
  • Too small
  • Munich, June 2nd, 2017 thanks to Roland Wenniger and Michael Buhrs, Christine Rauert and I were allowed to make a tour of the student exhibition. It has made us much joy and great fun. And we had never expected such great interest. Munich holds what of good design. And that's wonderful! All the best and continue to many visitors. Nelly Fleckhaus Hamburg
