Hofgarten, Munich
(4.4/5 based on 320+ reviews on the web)
For some quiet time during your sightseeing, stop at Hofgarten, between the English Garden and Munich Residenz. The Italian Renaissance garden was built in 1613, and features gravel paths, fountains, flower beds, and a cafe. Look for the Temple of Diana in the center of the garden. In the northeast corner, a square, black granite memorial is dedicated to the White Rose group, whose members were executed for a nonviolent campaign against Hitler's regime. In warm weather, you may find musicians playing in the garden, as well as locals playing boccie ball on the gravel paths. Our Munich vacation trip planner makes visiting Hofgarten and other Munich attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

  • Located in the heart of Munich, this is another beautiful city park. Excellent for a nice ride with peace of mind. In the middle of the Park Diana is the Pavilion dedicated to the goddess.

  • Park inspired by the art of the Italian garden, is ideal for walks awhile, very well kept, with lots of flowers. We buy a few sandwiches and ate at a few banks there. In the middle is the Temple of Diana, when we went were playing music. Opposite is the Palazzo della Cancelleria of Bavaria, stunning architecture.

  • This is another Park in the center of Munich. Access from the Odeonsplatz and the North. Would be part of the Residenz and is almost a "prolongation" of English gardens. Well maintained, has at its core the Temple of Diana who often sees musical artists perform for the passersby. Finally looks over this garden the beautiful structure of the Bayerische Staatskanzlei, the State Chancellery.

  • A nice park with beautiful flowers and scenery all around. You will often find a musician playing in the center. Take a break and enjoy the park.
  • Lovely park near Munich's city centre. I was there during the summer, and the park was beautiful. Colorful flowers, neatly trimmed bushes, and shade providing trees made for a wonderful walk in the afternoon.
  • Very nice formal garden right between Residenz and Englischer Garten. There is a little temple where people play live music and dance Salsa on weekends, old men play boule, kids are strolling under the chestnut trees, and families lounge in the Tambosi Cafè garden. Super relaxing.
  • Beautiful french garden right in the middle of Munich. Great to just have a break and enjoy, also great spot for amazing backdrops on your pictures.
  • Beautiful garden for a quiet afternoon... even when the fountains are covered and the flowers gone in readiness for winter!
