Flaucher, Munich

4.5
#10 of 14 in Parks in Munich
Relax on the smooth pebble banks and islands of the Isar at Flaucher. Located at the bottom of a low dam and surrounded by trees and parkland, the beach makes an ideal place to stroll or sit and view the greenery in heart of Munich. Visitors come to paddle in the crystal clear water and enjoy a power massage under the current of the dam, or weir. A bridge over the weir offers sweeping views of the beach, and a short walk through the park will take you to a beer garden. Bring something to sit on, as the stones can be rough. • Not only the direct city centre, but also the "wild" ISAR is to get to know Munich - in the urban area, it is mostly monotonous channeled... Although Flaucher is somewhat secluded underground and for Gehfaule with the bus easily accessible. A break in the beer garden is worth after a hike through the forest of shore and over the gravelly shore beaches of the ISAR... There is also no beaten track as on other sights of Munich...

  • ...VOR especially for people who don't have a garden or balcony. There are barbecue facilities directly at the river ISAR, to bathe or to be simply the soul. Very suitable for walkers and joggers. And the walk there is a nice beer in the beer garden to the Flaucher then. :-)

  • A wooden footbridge connects the gravel banks of the ISAR in this area. Weather permitting, bathed here, sunned, or grilled. This a gay meeting place has become apparently.

  • Great area to relax, enjoy the sun and and a beer with friends. Best time for a visit: Summer months. Why not 5 stars? the BBQ areas are quite limited.
  • Nice place to enjoy the summer with small grills. Usually very crowded with lots of smoke from the grills. Would recommend as a place to hang out.
  • A great park that seems to be enjoyed by locals. I had a nice long walk and the river goes by it so that's good.
  • nice park and waterfall there. One can go under the waterfall. One can grill around.
  • If gawking at naked bodies is your thing, then Fläche is your place. But beware: most naked bodies on display are a far cry from what you might expect to see. So, go have a look and have fun at this very interesting Isar place.

Where to stay in Munich

The St. Paul district is the site of Munich's yearly Oktoberfest and offers easy access to the city center. You may be able to find accommodation deals in the Am Schlachthof district, which is populated with small businesses and artists. Glockenbachviertel is the center of the city's nightlife with bars, clubs, and restaurants lining the streets. In contrast, Am alten Südfriedhof is a quiet residential district.
