Flaucher, Munich
(4.5/5 based on 35+ reviews on the web)
Relax on the smooth pebble banks and islands of the Isar at Flaucher. Located at the bottom of a low dam and surrounded by trees and parkland, the beach makes an ideal place to stroll or sit and view the greenery in heart of Munich. Visitors come to paddle in the crystal clear water and enjoy a power massage under the current of the dam, or weir. A bridge over the weir offers sweeping views of the beach, and a short walk through the park will take you to a beer garden. Bring something to sit on, as the stones can be rough. Use our Munich vacation generator to add Flaucher and other attractions to your Munich vacation plans.

  • The Park-Flaucher is located in a suburban Munich tourist-not at a point where the river Isar branches into several channels and enables bathing-easy to reach by subway (Thalkirchen station) or with an hour walk from the old town. The park itself is appreciable, with trees and very clean; Apart from the inevitable beer garden, a fountain of potable water, something really sensational on German soil. The beach is open access, much frequented by locals on sunny days; the water of the River, is pretty cool even in the summer but is fine for a quick bath. As in the English garden, you can undress completely and totally accepted practice and enjoy Sun and river in complete freedom; Indeed, unlike that in the English garden, missing Italians bigots who comment on "Dear God please don't bother taking the kids because there are nudists ... "(all too easy to imagine the terrible dangers to the angelic creatures feared by people with this mindset). Negatives: the beach is entirely formed by big river pebbles, which makes walking difficult and inconvenient lie flat; do not put any limit to inconsiderate behaviors of others, such as access to dogs-that mostly roam here and there without a leash or muzzle-or ignition of smelly Portable Grills; cyclists, ubiquitous and often very pushy at Monaco, claim mostly to bring the bike up to the last selected point rather than tie it at some distance and walk, blocking the traffic.

  • This beach is quite different than us Brazilians we are accustomed. Bathed by the river Isar, with its cold waters, this beach is crowded. On the day I was there, it was day of the week and at the end of the summer, anyway, full. I found it interesting!

  • Nice place to spend a hot summer afternoon in Munich. Has grill areas too.
  • It is a great place to hang out at the Isar, especially in summer. Walking or running over the bridge gives you a beautiful view over the river. It is totally worth visiting, especially if you are at or want to see the Isar!
  • Amazing. The only drawback is the smoke from hundreds of grills. You literally enter the cloud and get instantaneously hungry 😂
  • Great place next to the Isar. Go there in the summer, make a bbq and meet some new people
  • I love to come here in summer with a BBQ and some music to enjoy the night with friends. Bring a jacket because it is cold at night
