Biergarten Viktualienmarkt, Munich
(4.5/5 based on 1,900+ reviews on the web)
Wander through the buzzing stalls of Biergarten Viktualienmarkt, Munich's largest outdoor market. Originally started as a farmer's market in the early 19th century, the market has become a popular delicatessen. You can find gourmet goods and locally made products, as well as an array of fresh meats and produce. Pick up a loaf of fresh, oven-baked bread and a refreshing, fresh-squeezed juice. Walk around to admire the abundance of hand-made Bavarian goods. Stop by the beer garden if you'd like a typical meal of German sausages. Make Biergarten Viktualienmarkt a centerpiece of your Munich vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our Munich itinerary maker.

  • Great food court, where you find restaurants with traditional food and stalls of fruit, vegetables, cheese, meat and flowers. A great ride to near the time of eating. The varieties of food are vast, from the famous knee of pork to seafood. In the centre there is a stand that sells beer, so be sure to cool off. And stay tuned for the scattered boards in the square that tell a little of the place.

  • This is a famous and very popular market located in the Centre of Munich, just a few steps from Marienplatz. But it is very well organized, by the use of spaces to lighting. Houses mostly restaurants and food vendors but there is also some groceries and some seller of accessories and gadgets for the home. It's full of Germans they eat and drink at all times. Worth a quick visit and maybe even eat something.

  • Who comes to Munich should not look upon the market. Formed by very well organised stalls and shops with cafes and sales of meats and typical foods. Worth the visit!

  • Wonderful place to sit and have a beer. Plenty of food options surrounding the area. Buy or bring food and sit down and enjoy some beer under the trees. Sometimes hard to find a seat, just be patient and sit with others. The beer is self service
  • Its a great place to have a good meal and seat on banches together with localls bavarians. Its a nicest place day & nights
  • Very nice biergarten in the city center. Often changes the brewery they are serving which is nice. Perfect for a beer after a long day of walking around and shopping
  • It is a pity that i can not give it 10 stars or more. It is my preferite place in Munich. I love the biergarten in the middle ofvthe market... and.. you can buy food at the market and eat at the biergarten provided that you buy the drink... it is a wonderful place for everyone to enjoy a fresh glass of bavarian helles
  • Rude staff, beer is decent, but nothing great. Lots of food vendors around to choose from. I don't understand the hype.
