To get more familiar with two important aspects of Bavarian culture, pay a visit to Bier- und Oktoberfestmuseum. Inside Munich's oldest townhouse, a heritage-protected building from 1340, the museum explains the production of beer and the evolution of the culture surrounding it. Memorabilia from Oktoberfest celebrations over the years, as well as many photos, help illustrate the history of this great tradition. After your visit, enjoy some typical Bavarian cuisine in the restaurant, accompanied--of course--by a beer. For travelers who use our world travel planner, Munich holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Bier- und Oktoberfestmuseum and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

Bier- und Oktoberfestmuseum Reviews

I was quite excited to see the museum to find an endless collection of beer glasses and pictures of the Oktoberfest. The educational value is zero and the visit was rather boring. Apparently the museu... more »

more »
Museum purpose lies a 5-minute walk from the Marienplatz square. Usually in October, Munich, crowded as hotel reservations can not be tourists. But here all year round, for "Oktoberfest" beer from ancient history as soon as possible.View original -
Μικρό μουσείο που εκμεταλλεύεται την θέση του κοντά στην Marienplatz , για να προβάλλει την γιορτή της μπύρας στην Βαυαρία . Αδιάφορο . more »
Small museum that exploits his position near the Marienplatz, to promote the celebration of beer in Bavaria. Indifferent.View original

Being students, we paid €2.5 per person. That is next to nothing, but I still don't recommend this place especially if it means that you have to change your route or if you have limited time in the city. Couple of old mugs, some brass taps with no explanatory text whatsoever, and some paintings... Some of the information over the displays didn't even have an English translation. It was a big letdown. You can have a beer at the downstairs pub and we did that. Just have a beer & skip the museum if it's on your way. Oh, the wifi is staff-only btw :)

Small but easy to understand the history of the Oktoberfest. You can also drink beer here.

I went there as a beer tasting tour. Had a great beer tasting and their breze was really good somehow. I think that was best breze in Munich.
-
Great beer and food at very reasonable prices served in an gothic building with parts that dates back to 1250. Have a look at the museum as well. Recommended!

For some reason the museum was closed when I arrived there was within opening hours
