  • Made the past really interesting, and covered so many eras. Lots of car parking, lots of eating and drinking opportunities  more »
  • Whether it's family or the couple, whether young or old, this open-air museum is well worth a visit. Everything is to visit and to touch from the farm to the finished House or to the Nissenhütte. Now the holidays are the correct date for such a visit.

  • The visit of the Museum for students of the Rhineland is obligatory, as it offers always new aspects also us after many years. Wonderful thematically sorted presentation of historic houses, farms, mills, stock Schober and other buildings. For a day too much; so come back and take also the historic bakery products.

  • Lots of interesting farm buildings in lovely parkland. Some thought provoking exhibits. Helpful staff.
  • Am Sommermontag gibt es wenige Leute. We arrived about an hour after opening, on a summer Monday, and found the 'town' to be nearly void of people. If more of the buildings had furnishings (a few do), then at least it would have felt like a ghost town - as if everyone had suddenly vanished - but most buildings were empty shells, so it wasn't even that intriguing. The few guests (15 cars in the parking lot when we arrived, maybe 30 when we left) far outnumbered the workers. The buildings are generally beautiful in their antiquity and craftsmanship, and a lot of effort and expense obviously went into moving them from their original location to this site, but the final step of making each building informationally relevant to visitors was missing.
  • Großräumig, schön und ruhig.
  • The LVR is located on a wooded hillside near the town of Kommern open-air museum Kommern. On the grounds are several assemblies or villages from different regions of the Rhineland and the Eifel. Next to the historic building groups, there is also a large indoor area with permanent and temporary exhibitions. Here, especially the lovingly designed permanent exhibition is to recommend "Rhineland". The site is open all year round and worth a visit. It's especially well with children.

  • Back to the past or a beautiful journey through time. It is quite interesting to see how earlier has been lived, lived and worked and the open-air museum Kommern makes really great. But more than go through and go into the houses / look it is not at the end yet. However, we had a nice day and go safely again at some point.
