Starkly contrasting the Stalinist buildings in this previously East German city, Grüne Zitadelle was designed by famed architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Built in 2005, this pink and gold building that incorporate flowers and trees is already one of Magdeburg's most recognizable buildings. It features more than 55 residential flats, as well as office space and several other facilities. • Wonderful quirky and visionary
  • Absolute must in Magdeburg great architecture and many great little shops. Necessarily a guide book, just so the tree dwellers and the "crooked" apartments you can examine

  • Definitely worth a visit. Regularly interesting guided tours are offered. But even without a guide is worth a visit. It is very colorful and every detail is different. The situation at the Cathedral and close to the Elbe River is also super.
