  • Is a good view of the city, but was a scaffolding all around that took some of the views. Is lift almost all the way to the top, but you have to go the last little piece to the top. The body of the water tank and the rest of the shows is not that great and is only in German. It costs 4 euros to enter. Ok to view but not a must.

  • The water tower is a landmark of Lüneburg. 56m high, and no longer as a water tower he is used, since few years observation tower, tourist attraction and marriage address. During the Christmas season, a Wichernkranz, the archetype of the advent wreath decorates it. J.H. Wichern. 1839 for the boys at his home in Hamburg developed him, so that they better survived the run-up to Christmas. He arranged 24 small candles for every working day and in between on a wagon wheel 4 large for the Sundays before Christmas Eve. This developed into our today's wreath with 4 candles. This wreath for the water tower is made of steel, weighs 1.5 tons and has a diameter of 13 m. The annual setting up a wonderful sight in the advent season is an attraction and the luminous wreath at 56 m height. In the water tower itself, there are many information. You can lift up and down, but also spiral stairs run. On each of the 6 levels, there are beautifully designed rooms and the former water reservoir is illuminated blue. Highly recommended!

  • You get a nice view of the city from the top and you can even choose to climb to the top. There was a wedding there when we came so it was a little crowded but if you have time try and read about the history of the tower and the city. The top is safe for kids.
  • The view from the top has something for everybody. If you are interested in hinstoric industrial buildings this is very nice. Go through the former water tank using the stairs. See also an exebition about water and the history of the tower.
  • Super views, it is advisable to use not the elevator... Sad is, that is one down already €4 entrance fee paid and above once again asked for the telescope to the cashier.

  • You will experience a real Hanseatic city – an old city with lots of history, one should run a trip to Lüneburg, a little bit South-East of Hamburg. Here is the most beautiful old houses and a very large and cosy pedestrian system, featuring fine shopping and plenty of charming sidewalk restaurants. A trip can definitely be recommended.

  • Between the Kalandhaus of to 1491 and the Council Mill located in the entrance area of the Ilmenau in the city from the late 16th century in 1906/1907 former water tower built on the medieval ramparts. From a square base and one of columns consisting of the round top, the neo-Gothic Tower has a wedding room and a terrace. The old water tank through, you can get on the top platform and enjoy the unique views of Lüneburg.
