Trip Planner: Europe / Germany / Mecklenburg-West Pomerania / Ludwigslust / Sightseeing / Ludwigslust Palace
Ludwigslust Palace is a stately home or schloss in the town of Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, northern Germany. It was built as a hunting lodge, rebuilt as a luxurious retreat from the ducal capital, Schwerin, then became for a time the center of government. It was the "joy" of Prince Christian Ludwig, the son of the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, hence the name Ludwigslust.OriginsLudwigslust had its origins in a simple hunting lodge within a day's ride of the ducal capital, Schwerin. In 1724 Prince Christian Ludwig, the son of the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, decided to build a hunting lodge on this site, near a hamlet called Klenow. Even after he became duke in his turn in 1747, he passed most of his time at this residence, which he called Ludwigslust .Arrange to visit Ludwigslust Palace and other attractions in Ludwigslust using our Ludwigslust holiday planner.

From the outside the building makes here much, also with the empty space before. The Interior can't keep up here in my view, only the room is quite nice - compared to the other State castles in MV, there to see here only little conserved so that the visit of the Interior is not compulsory, but quite pleasant due to the prevailing visitors emptiness.View original

Designated former baroque hunting lodge offers "mecklenburgisches Versailles", also as the Sanssouci of the North through the Golden Hall over two floors, even if here mostly cardboard for the apparent pomp is responsible. It shows a comprehensive picture, but also watch collection; Some rooms are furnished, a magic stove made of Meissen porcelain is among the exhibits as well as coins and weapons. A small shop is located in the entrance area, as well as a cloakroom with lockers and toilets. During a stay in Ludwigslust may Is visit of the Castle including the beautiful grounds a must.View original

It is the focal point of the town of Ludwigslust, and is architecturally very interesting. It's already exciting, what about out of cardboard to make.View original
Beautiful wall coverings, ivory carvings,, unique cork carvings of roman moments and ruins, beautiful golden hall, parquet floors, unique fire screens restorations still in prpgress. Spent two hours on tour. audio guide helps.
Nadine KahlBeautiful and large castle garden, you can be up there almost. It is somewhat a pity that in the Swiss House at the moment nothing is. I don't know whether this may change in the summer. I was not in the Castle Museum itself, yet, this is still on the to-do list! Also everything on statues in the garden is covered over the winter, therefore more worth a visit during the warmer seasons.View original
