Holstentor, Lubeck

(4.5/5 based on 700+ reviews on the web)
Holstentor, a historical city gate, serves not only as an icon of Lübeck but also as a museum about the city's history. Originally built in the 15th century, it is one of the relics of Lübeck's medieval city fortifications. Spend time admiring the gate before entering the museum, and look for the Latin inscription, which translates to "Harmony within, peace without." Step inside to explore seven rooms that focus mainly on Lübeck's trade history. Squeamish visitors should skip the Holsten Gate exhibit, which contains medieval torture instruments. • When you enter a lubeck yourself with this beautiful medieval-style, a forced stop input.

  • We went Tuesday, and caught several tours of German children. The entrance costs 7 euros per person and inside there is a Museum of various plants (with included torture section). If you are interested in the time medieval and later is quite well. Since then the door outside impresses. It will be the first thing that you'll see arriving at Lübeck, if you come from the train station. Passing under the gate you arrive in the Centre of the city, which is very nice.

  • It's nice little museum that you will while entering the old Lubeck city. The preserved antiques from medieval era gives you a peek in the history of trading in Europe via sea root. Nice one for one time!
  • Imponent structure well located at the entrance when you come from the main train station
  • Really interesting! Lots of variety, never a dull moment.
  • The gatehouse is pretty sweet, definitely evokes a medieval town feel. Have not explored the museum inside sadly...
  • Innovative museum in your language and about your Hanseatic city.
