St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche) is most famous for being the resting place of composer Johann Sebastian Bach. It's also where he worked as a choir director. Reformer Martin Luther preached here on Pentecost Sunday in 1539. Today, it is a Lutheran church. In the sanctuary, study the portraits of superintendents of Leipzig. The oldest dates back to 1614. Note the stained-glass windows. One is a portrait of Bach, and another is Felix Mendelssohn. Outside the church, look for the statue of Bach. • Beautiful church, located in the middle of the city. There to see many beautiful stained-glass Windows. Very nice, I found the tree where everyone could hang a wish the next prayer.

  • We took advantage of one of the performances of the choir of the choir church historian, for Vespers on Friday afternoon, and it was an unforgettable experience. On this occasion we could also listen to one of the two organs. The Interior of the Church is rather sober and inspired by the recollection, and is quite impressive the plaque present on the altar of the year Bach's grave.

  • elegant and peaceful :)
  • I love Bach's music. When I visited the Thomaskirche in 2010, I could listened to the chor there. After that I made the 3D data of it in the Google Earth.
