St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche), Leipzig

(4.7/5 based on 850+ reviews on the web)
St. Thomas Church (Thomaskirche) is most famous for being the resting place of composer Johann Sebastian Bach. It's also where he worked as a choir director. Reformer Martin Luther preached here on Pentecost Sunday in 1539. Today, it is a Lutheran church. In the sanctuary, study the portraits of superintendents of Leipzig. The oldest dates back to 1614. Note the stained-glass windows. One is a portrait of Bach, and another is Felix Mendelssohn. Outside the church, look for the statue of Bach. • Thomaskirche: don't let to know and enter the Thomaskirche, for in your interior has a little Bach Museum which houses some of his original scores, your cello and other relics, in addition to your grave since his remains are in the Church. A plus: look before on the site of the Church and try to attend a concert of classical music at Thomaskirche: was one of the most beautiful I've ever heard with the choir of the Church itself (the same where she sang Bach) and spectacular Orchestra, in addition to listening to the same pipe organ played by Bach. ... a unique emotion.
