Madler Passage, Leipzig

(4.3/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web)
A famous shopping arcade with origins dating back to the 16th century, Madler Passage originated in 1525 as a simple wine bar called Auerbach's Cellar. Expanded in the early 20th century, the passage grew to include the surrounding buildings--and a modern promenade providing numerous shopping opportunities was born. With more than 40 small specialty shops and restaurants, the passage is an excellent place to find unique gifts, enjoy a meal, or simply watch people go by. • The Mädlerpassage is a covered retail located in the city centre of Leipzig (Grimmaische Street/Neumarkt), restoration and service complex and at the same time one of the few fully preserved and most magnificent store passages of Messestadt. Many shops invite you to stroll around. Food and drink is also provided.

  • A quick trip to the shops of this gallery. Nothing fancy, a small shopping mall, just to see something. But I just don't get that much and the prices I saw were quite high.

  • Leipzig has many courtyards and passages, you should have seen these. Here there are shops and it is suitable also for window-shoppers.

  • Too much smoking customers inside! Beautiful place, but awful environment for families with kids. Get rid of smokers immediately!
  • Always back beautiful to look at. Nice shops, nice ambience. Also for Christmas, worth a visit.
