A famous shopping arcade with origins dating back to the 16th century, Madle- Passage originated in 1525 as a simple wine bar called Auerbach's Cellar. Expanded in the early 20th century, the passage grew to include the surrounding buildings--and a modern promenade providing numerous shopping opportunities was born. With more than 40 small specialty shops and restaurants, the passage is an excellent place to find unique gifts, enjoy a meal, or simply watch people go by. For travelers who use our online itinerary creator, Leipzig holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Madle- Passage and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Very large and very beautiful passage. There are a large number of different shops and several restaurants with cafeterias. But the most important thing in this passage is its appearance. I would describe it as a beautiful labyrinth of stone and glass in the old style and immersed in the muffled light of sunlight. This place felt like a very small and cozy castle, so the shops themselves were not interesting to me, I just drowned a little in contemplation of the place itself.
  • Expensive venues. Coffee shops inside are nice.
