Specialty Museum
Grassi Museum welcomes visitors to the Ethnography Museum, the Musical Instruments Museum, and the Applied Arts Museum. Each has both permanent exhibits and alternating special exhibitions. Tour the Art Deco column hall, designed in shining red, gold, and blue, with its 12 ceiling-high columns. Walk through the inner courtyards, then check out the old Johannis cemetery. The permanent exhibition "From Ancient Times to Historism" covers more than 3,000 years of world art history. Many special exhibitions appear regularly throughout the year, such as the Grassi Trade Fair at the end of October. The onsite café is a nice resting spot between museums. • Huge Museum wing with many rooms. Splendid ethnographical exhibitions from all over the world. The mask exhibition was interesting. There is a special exhibition Tatookunst at the moment. Always a visit worth Grassi Museum.

  • We have visited only the part of 'Applied art' and the special exhibitions. Were over three hours on the road. Very beautiful exhibition, well designed, however for older term sometimes tiring, to read the texts. There you should perhaps fall back on an audio system.

  • The Museum is made up of 3 smaller-Museum of musical instruments, ethnic Museum and the Museum of art of design (at least I think so). We decided to visit only two of them, by distributing our forces for two days and to be honest-I recommend you do it this way. You can focus on the subject-as grassimuseum generally specifies just a third of them where depicts a beautiful collection for living, interior design, art, and generally the works of human hands starting from the 1500 year after our days. Must for every part to take slack at least 2-3 hours, it is also worth to invest € 1 in audio guide (only in German, English and probably in Russian)-at least the English had a lot of names and interesting facts not placed anywhere on boards. It was a very interesting trip through time! recommend

  • Worth a visit
  • Beautiful museums with great collections. Especially the exhibitions "grassi invites" are fantastic - creative, contemporary and current themes in the Grassi Museum für Völkerkunde. The architecture and history of the building are also very exciting.

  • A very good collection in the permanent exhibition and also repeatedly featured exhibitions on a variety of topics, all in architecturally attractive surroundings... Full recommendation!

  • Worth a visit! For BBK members (artists), the entrance to the Museum of Arts and crafts is free, reduced upon presentation of the Leipzig card. Each of the museums - whether Ethnology, decorative arts and musical instruments - is worth a visit, an audio guide is useful though much more vivid text provides explanations. Invites the Johannisfriedhof to linger behind the Museum.

  • Grassi - Museum of Ethnology: very many exhibits, whose sight one could enjoy if there was not the extremely poor air in the rooms! After 15 minutes, the head smokes one because you get quite simply too little oxygen, how can you work at as a stuffy air? The employees feel very sorry! The visitor feels like under a Käseglocke...Schade, because I would like longer geblieben...aber in THE air, nothing like in the fresh AIR! For the bad air, there are two star deduction.
