  • My husband and I visited this attraction today in our 6 metre motorhome. There was parking at the top of hill which said no motorhomes so we drove down a narrow tarmac road with traffic signs and park...  more »
  • The castle is privately owned and the Castle as well as the rooms only with a lead against entrance fee to visit. The opening hours are on the Internet or at the tourist info. The rise is broad and not particularly steep paths, which are quite well signposted. The leader has brought closer the Castle and the former castle life us with much dedication, witty anecdotes, wit and humor and much expertise. It was a very worthwhile trip. The staufen Castle of the archbishops and Prince-electors of Mainz was built around 1245. The rectangular Castle is surrounded by four wings and a curtain wall with towers and houses a castle chapel. The tower is 29 m high, however, the castle in the 30-year-old war by the Swedes was destroyed in 1689 by the French. In the sight of the ruins, Goethe wrote the "ghost greeting" 1774. From 1852 to 1937, the castle in the English Gothic style was rebuilt and furnished. From the terrace of the Café, you have a wonderful view over the Lahn, Lahnstein until to Stolzenfels. And with a cool drink under the trees waiting to the next leadership can be great bridge (and do the toilet gear).

  • We have the first tour on 1st Easter Day done! Funny guide that in a nice way (and with a clear voice) ca. 70 minutes has enthralled us.

  • Nice view from camping, nice staff, good food in restaurant.
  • The castle looks beautiful but you'll get a tour only once per every other day or so. So I only got that picture through the fence in the gates window.
  • Amazing views of the landscape but not of the castle. Better to see it from the other side of the river.
  • Excellent campsite, very clean & wonderful views.
  • The management cost 6.50 euros for an adult. For that you get an interesting guided tour of the Castle, you can learn something about - the architectural features - the previous owners - various today's sayings, which were at that time - a tragic history (I would at this point not spoilers) - every piece of furniture in the Castle a background (origin, style, etc.) All in all a good 40 minute guided tour in 👍
