Krefeld Zoo, Krefeld

#1 of 7 in Things to do in Krefeld
Krefeld Zoo serves as home to creatures big, small, and in between. Look for zebras, emus, waterbucks, and more in the African Plain area, or head over to the Tropical Bird House to see birds from all over the world in five separately themed aviaries. Elephants and apes and many other animals also live here. If you'd like a tour in English, call ahead to book one. • We were about five years ago in this really nice Zoo. Maybe it is not noticed us initially, but somehow, the cages for the animals are relatively too small like the Jaguar, the Cheetah, the Asian elephant, Rhino with his boys and gorillas. Clearly, larger enclosures cost also, but I would pay also a higher entrance fee.

  • We have an annual ticket for years and are therefore regularly here, we also support the Zoo with an animal sponsorship. The gorillas are the attraction badly with leaders "Kidogo" and one can spend hours intrigued to see the two small gorillas. Point deduction is there for the animal enclosure partly in need of renovation but strong, the Zoo has come just in the years

  • I was already several times in this zoo over the years. During each visit (so one to twice a year) there are new things to see. Here it is working constantly on the enclosures, so the Zoo is designed always Tiergerechter. Therefore, we must ever accept a construction site when you visit. I think it's better than a Zoo, which more and more obsolete. This time, we were comfortable six hours at the Zoo and have really enjoyed it.

  • Nice zoo with standard selection of animals. Feeding presentations are interesting. Guided tours are very nice for kids birthdays.
  • If you agree with the concepts of zoos, it's a nice little family zoo, especially entertaining for kids. If you go very, very early go into the tropical house when its empty and climb the stairs, maybe a bird or two (can't remember their name) will come perch on your head. If you are used to huge fancy zoos with exotic animals, it's not for you. Great and renovated eating area.
  • Good varity of animals to see, the zoo was partly renovated. You can relax with family here, prices are high but compared to other zoos it is a normal pricing
  • A lovely zoo, surprisingly big for a town zoo. Absolute highlights are the penguin bassin, the tropical house, African steppe area and the Gorilla family.
  • Nice little Zoo. But quite expensive as long as you don't visit regularly and opt for an annual ticket. Some animals are lacking space in my opinion, especially the elephants. On the other hand many enclosures are great: snowy owls, gorillas, rhinoceros, jaguar, ... There are always improvements going on.
