Schloss Stolzenfels, Koblenz

Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
3.9/5 based on 120+ reviews on the web
Originally constructed in 1259 and perched above the Rhine River, Schloss Stolzenfels is a classic castle in a fairytale setting. The fortress' ornate architecture is the result of several iterations and reconstructions over the past eight centuries. The neo-Gothic-style towers and battlements were intended to represent an archetypal medieval structure. Hike your way up a winding, sign-posted path to the castle's seat, and explore both the grounds and the luxurious interior through a guided tour. Don't miss the sweeping view of the surrounding valley and city of Koblenz. A visit to Schloss Stolzenfels represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Koblenz family vacation planner to plot your vacation.

  • After having seen many castles, you should leave the Castle Stolzenfest with its history not to be missed.

  • A random gave us the idea to visit this jewel of German romanticism. One of the goals of our short holiday that we had long before set and full of curiosity could wait to visit. The competent leadership brought us this gem and gave us for a moment in time. Perfect.

  • Beyond the landscape suggestive position, no doubt, I did not find particularly interesting the tour of this castle. Well maintained, restored but perhaps I should say "restored". It all seems a bit fake and just authentic. Moreover like other castles I visited along the romantic road, all extremely photogenic, clean and fresh paint but unrealistic.
