  • Although the ruins costs so around 5 euros admission, but the visit is worthwhile in all cases. The ruins as its name already reveals, is located directly on the Rhine. But on the left side of the Rhine. The Burg of Rheinfels is a spur castle on a mountain ridge near the village of St. Goar. 1245, the castle was built by a certain Diether v as a customs Castle for the medieval vessels on the Rhine. In the 13th century, the castle was divided between the County of Katzenelnbogen and the city of Darmstadt, along with other Rhine castles. The system was further expanded to 1360-1370. In the war of the Palatine succession (1688-1697), the castle of French troops was besieged and partly destroyed. The Castle surprises with many chambers and corridors, which are still very well preserved. A complete reconstruction never actually took place, so that we find the ruins today. It is still a small museum within the castle walls. You can see some interesting things there. Access is included in the ticket price. There are free parking spaces directly in front of the Castle. I would advise not during the main season the ruins to visit, much tourism.

  • Real adventure Castle! The children made a huge spa spa fun, through the narrow corridors to run and the Castle has an explore. Cheaper ticket price, just needs to recommend next time we book the journey of discovery before the typical tacky gift shop. Flashlight and sturdy shoes!
