  • In the late 14th century, is opposite Rheinfels Castle and was built to become an integrated area defence. Located on a cliff, so it seems defenses strong. Current's and the Japanese-owned, rebuilt what was destroyed by Napoleon. Internal publishing only the view from the outside has not often visible from upstream and downstream location.

  • We have looked at some castles during our days in the Lorelei Valley. We might consider this castle only from a distance, because the castle is now privately owned and no visit is possible. But the story is interesting as the Castle got their name. The anecdotes are worth a viewing from afar, and smile.

  • Seen near to sanctgoaasehausen River cruise line, a cruise ship terminal. The Castle took the name Marquis means "cat's elbow". The barrier was built to collect excise tax ships up and down the ship. Is owned by Japanese people are now open to the public, is not.

  • Real medieval castle. Beautiful.
  • A Burg Katz (Cats castle), you can have a good view from Rheinfels Castle or Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels across the Rhine river. When there is a cat, there is a mouse - check it out the Burg Maus on the same side of Rhine river just a bit north. I learned from Rick Steve's guide, the castle was purchased by a Japanese in 1995, had a renovation plan for this historic castle, but against and protected by the town. So it is a an empty castle now.
  • Have only seen from the opposite bank. Say this hotel and tourists are not allowed there.
