  • Perfect the organisation assists starting with us great Teutonic parking (about 5 euros for half day) located near the station of romantic Railway (a must for enthusiasts) that connects the station of Prien DB at the pier. Little line at the ticket counter and short wait to board the boat in twenty minutes leads to the Herreninsel; then another twenty minutes to walk to the Castle and the Nice Park, very well taken care of. Wanting to join the guided tour in Italian (40 minutes) we resign ourselves to a wait of almost two hours; accessing views is excellently run with an airport-style. The Interior has exclusively documentary and historical value, since among all this French-like art style not bad loser if it sees so. A lot of sympathy for the unhappy sovereign immersed in his dreams a bit (a lot) crazy. Comes out with a bit of melancholy.

  • It is so fun to visit this castle of King Ludwig II. The boat ride there was relaxing and even though we went in the summer, it was very easy to buy a ticket once we arrived at the boat dock. It is no...  more »
  • Although the day was gloomy, visiting this castle we loved. Many congratulations to the young guide who escorted us, explaining the history of the castle with a lot of passion and making himself available to satisfy our curiosity. The island then is a true spectacle ... We have purchased a card costs 44 euros per couple that is 14 days; with this card you can visit some 40 imperial palaces including the castles of Ludwig. It's just convenient.

  • Without doubt, this is one of the three best King Ludwig's castles had been built in Bayern, in which date back to late 18th century. Even though the interior part had not been completely decoration, but it still worth for a visit.
  • Let me just save your the time. It’s a copy of Versailles, and you have to do a tour, which lasts about (for us at least) 15 maybe 20 minutes and every room was basically, “this is an exact copy of Versailles.” Not to mention you can only walk through a few, even though around 50 rooms were finished. All of the fountains were not only not running but completely covered, and when I asked why nobody could give me a good answer. When we went to buy our tickets, the woman at the wondow did not believe that my boyfriend could speak English and tried to put us on a german only tour (I can’t speak german.) To make things even better the guy driving the boat on the way over was clearly DRUNK and making his own schedule different from those online and in the panflit on the boat. Parking is also 4€ as well as every time you have to go to the bathroom it’s .30-.50€ because you’re on and island and can’t go anywhere else. You are not allowed to take photos at any part of the castle or to bring your backpack in unless you want to pay for a locker or leave it hanging at your own risk. I would not in any way recommend going at any time other than the height of tourist season otherwise you won’t even see the gardens for the same price. It was a huge waste of money to deal with incompitant people and a rundown illy tended to castle.
  • Very beautiful inside the palace. Worth to see.
  • My first time to visit there, the PALACE is definitely amazing 😍
  • Ludwig II left the palace unfinished as his building projects emptied state treasure, and he only stayed ten days here before his sudden death. His story is as fascinating as the place. The guided tour is really worth doing.
