  • Herrenkimzi-this is the residence of Ludwig II, a place of solitude and worship the King of the Sun King Louis XIV. So this place will be especially interesting for those who travelled to Versailles or soon plans to visit. You can get there by boat, as the Palace is situated on one of the Islands. The ticket immediately, see schedule in advance, as are going to big queue and you just don't get on the boat. Once you used, you need to buy a ticket: there are several options (only visiting the Palace or Palace + museums). We took the Palace and museums (specify when you are interested in excursions, language on the ticket will perforating time to which you want to come, thereby crowd when visiting). Other museums are interesting, if you understand German, because each exhibit only German description and no translation. There's a good coffee shop, where we ate a stunning cake Zaher! And there is a small park near the Palace, where you can also spend pleasant time and just walk.

  • Schloss Herrenchiemsee is Ludwig II's homage to the French Louis XIV. It is his local version of the Palais of Versailles. You go around with a guided tour, which is informative. The guide makes sure ...  read more »
  • Herrenchiemsee Castle stands on the Helen INSEL island. Prien went in the car. Prien Wharf, large parking. 15 minutes boat from Prien went riding to the island. Herrenchiemsee Castle Island from walk for about 20 minutes through the Woods I ride the horse-drawn carriage. Around trees that sprout out when I arrived (late April), also the weather was nice, so we walked through the Woods. It is very nice.

  • This is what a palace looks like when you've run out of money. Apparently the guy who owned this place wanted it to look like Versailles palace but couldn't get it done. He only lived in the palace for 10 days. The tickets are a good value as it only costs 8 euros and includes a 30 minute tour, access to the museum and the monastery. Worth visiting. The grounds are gigantic and takes a while to walk around.
  • An exquisite smaller copy of the Chateau de Versailles located on the Herreninsel island with its own magnificent Great Hall of Mirrors. The boat ride from Prien boat pier to the island is equally enjoyable.
  • Beautiful unfinished palace of a tragic historical figure. Boat ride to the island is very nice and it's fun to walk the grounds.
  • Interesting historical place. Tours are worthy and the tour guides very knowledgeable and open to questions
  • + Very nice castle (small and unfinished copy of versailles (paris)) + Some parts of the building couldn't be finished by King Ludwig II. of Bavaria. This is highly interesting, as one can take a "look behind the scenes" of how those Castles have been build around 1850. + The "finished" rooms are just insane (though just a copy of versailles) + Also the surrounding Chiemsee-Area is a must see. + The guided tour is short, but interesting (not too much into detail, though)
