  • On August the 8th, I finally came around to visiting the first of King Ludwig II's famous Castles (Neuschwanstein), and having bought the annual pass for the Bavarian castles/palaces, I decided to vis...  more »
  • We had a weekend long at the Chiemsee and there should be Herrenchiemsee Castle of course not missing, already at the pier we were very positively surprised, the island ticket with leadership and Ludwig Museum was for students for free, great respect for it, which you can see not all days. The leadership in the castle itself was very informative and entertaining. Again and again!

  • We decided on a beautiful winter day to visit the Chiemsee with its men's and ladies island. The shipping was nice and quickly over. The Herreninsel is large, quiet, and very green. The castle is impressive and beautifully situated. The island represents the exact opposite. It is densely built up and lively. Download here many small cafés, restaurants and shops to the stay a. It was a beautiful day.

  • Nice castle even if it's not done. The ticket includes a guided tour, so it's worth the money. The courtyard is very big, has very interesting fountains and a great view of the lake.
  • Really interesting history and gorgeous views. Can't take pictures during the tour. Lots of nice land around the palace to walk through and explore. All the landscaping is pretty and the fountains are amazing.
  • castle on the herreninsel in chiemsee. Dont forget to visit the christmas market here.
  • This is what a palace looks like when you've run out of money. Apparently the guy who owned this place wanted it to look like Versailles palace but couldn't get it done. He only lived in the palace for 10 days. The tickets are a good value as it only costs 8 euros and includes a 30 minute tour, access to the museum and the monastery. Worth visiting. The grounds are gigantic and takes a while to walk around.
  • Take a boat and visit this splendid caprice of a mad (?) king.
