  • We are in another castle of the Bavarian King Ludwig II, which is positioned in this enchanting place called Chiemsee, defined by the Germans themselves Bavarian sea because it is their largest lake. It is built on a small island (Herreninsel) reachable by an efficient ferry service, pretty much copying the Versailles palace from which he was Bewitched, after having been repeatedly, takes the features from wonderful fountains up to the inner rooms, of course with the proper proportions. The tours are in groups with schedules and tours in their own language.

  • The entire visit is very characteristic: it gets and you embark on a boat that takes you to the island where you will find the Palace. The cost of the boat trip is 7.80 €. Once you arrive on the island you can choose to take a ride on a carriage or to get to the Palace on foot. The walk is easy but it takes 15-20 minutes. The building is beautiful, as is its gardens. To do everything it takes at least 3 hours.

  • Nice castle even if it's not done. The ticket includes a guided tour, so it's worth the money. The courtyard is very big, has very interesting fountains and a great view of the lake.
  • Really interesting history and gorgeous views. Can't take pictures during the tour. Lots of nice land around the palace to walk through and explore. All the landscaping is pretty and the fountains are amazing.
  • castle on the herreninsel in chiemsee. Dont forget to visit the christmas market here.
  • This is what a palace looks like when you've run out of money. Apparently the guy who owned this place wanted it to look like Versailles palace but couldn't get it done. He only lived in the palace for 10 days. The tickets are a good value as it only costs 8 euros and includes a 30 minute tour, access to the museum and the monastery. Worth visiting. The grounds are gigantic and takes a while to walk around.
  • Take a boat and visit this splendid caprice of a mad (?) king.
