  • I was for the first time in Herrenchiemsee and am impressed. Even the trip to the island was very beautiful. The castle is worth a visit though unfinished. The garden in November of course something bleak. The fountain is empty but still worth a visit.

  • We visited 2 times this castle: once in February and may (2015), so off tourist season. Because of this it was infrequent. in February, the shutters are often closed and the guide opens as the visit, thereby dragging not... we lose a dimension. It was much cooler because busier in May. What can I say: the boat approach is nice as well as the market (20') through the forest (an alternative motor or dadaesque). for the Interior, to refer to all good guide, for us is not the most beautiful, crazy etc... but it is part of "madness" Louis II and as such worthy of visit.

  • Particularly beautiful, this castle, copy of Versailles is of extraordinary beauty. Large bright gardens, a beautiful wood, a deer enclosure and more lovely castle rooms than the other.

  • Nice castle even if it's not done. The ticket includes a guided tour, so it's worth the money. The courtyard is very big, has very interesting fountains and a great view of the lake.
  • Really interesting history and gorgeous views. Can't take pictures during the tour. Lots of nice land around the palace to walk through and explore. All the landscaping is pretty and the fountains are amazing.
  • castle on the herreninsel in chiemsee. Dont forget to visit the christmas market here.
  • This is what a palace looks like when you've run out of money. Apparently the guy who owned this place wanted it to look like Versailles palace but couldn't get it done. He only lived in the palace for 10 days. The tickets are a good value as it only costs 8 euros and includes a 30 minute tour, access to the museum and the monastery. Worth visiting. The grounds are gigantic and takes a while to walk around.
  • Take a boat and visit this splendid caprice of a mad (?) king.
