  • This immense Royal residence, much like the Versailles palace is located on the island of Chiemsee and is easily accessible by a small ferry and then a walk in the Woods. Interesting guided tour (unfortunately very fast) and details about the various rooms. Shame about the bar food really miserable and with very little choice of dishes.

  • Nice castle even if it's not done. The ticket includes a guided tour, so it's worth the money. The courtyard is very big, has very interesting fountains and a great view of the lake.
  • Really interesting history and gorgeous views. Can't take pictures during the tour. Lots of nice land around the palace to walk through and explore. All the landscaping is pretty and the fountains are amazing.
  • castle on the herreninsel in chiemsee. Dont forget to visit the christmas market here.
  • This is what a palace looks like when you've run out of money. Apparently the guy who owned this place wanted it to look like Versailles palace but couldn't get it done. He only lived in the palace for 10 days. The tickets are a good value as it only costs 8 euros and includes a 30 minute tour, access to the museum and the monastery. Worth visiting. The grounds are gigantic and takes a while to walk around.
  • Take a boat and visit this splendid caprice of a mad (?) king.
