  • The Museum has a number of interesting exhibits, in particular the archaeological collection I found very good. However, the common thread is missing: it is rather a hodge-podge of a man who collects everything. It would be nice if the context to Heidelberg and the Palatinate will be worked out better. Sometimes that happens, but not always. On the other hand, There is much to see, the building is also interesting. Unfortunately you may not shooting at the Museum, also without Flash. A somewhat strange setting.

  • Kurpfälzisches Museum is located in the heart of the Altstadt in Heidelberg, Hauptstraße where the Museum is housed in the Palais Morass lies with its fine, red façade facing the pedestrian street. The Museum is a part larger than you think, when you look at it from the outside, for in 1980 was a new building added to the Museum. The Museum was founded in 1870 on the basis of the French engraver Charles de Graimbergs (1774 – 1864) collections. Graimberg was immigrated to Germany in 1810, and came first to Karlsruhe. When he visited Heidelberg, he was so excited about the city that he settled here. He bought himself a House on the Kornmarkt, from his window so he could admire the Castle, and he died at the age of 90 in the same House. The Museum houses a large collection of graphic art, applied art, textiles and sculptures, and then a distinguished collection of paintings from the 1400 's to the 1900 's on the one hand, those which are derived from Graimberg, but among other things also the beautiful "Sammlung Posselt" with images of several internationally famous painters such as Adriaen Coorte, Canaletto, Giuseppe Maria Crespi, van Dyck, Frans Francken II Anthoon , Jan van Goyen, Francesco Guardi, Jan Hackaert, Willem Claesz Heda, Willem Kalf, Alessandro Magnasco, Rachel Ruysch, Pieter Cornelisz van Slingeland, Anthonie Verstraelen and several others. As a guest at the Danish Museum was I Merry surprised to find a fine picture of the Danish golden age painter Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, if "Junge Frau, sich entkleidend" hung in the exhibition with contemporary images in the Museum's extension. The museum owns a carved altar relief of the iconic woodcarver Tilman Riemenschneider, the so-called Zwölfbotenaltar, unfortunately we cannot photograph in Kurpfälziches musseum, which can be hard to understand, since many of the Museum's images still can be found on the Internet. It was also limited by the possibilities of buying books with images from the Museum, but a couple of catalogs, however, was for sale. This museum is a must for all art interested visiting Heidelberg.

  • This local museum turned out to be a big surprise; another room and another room and another. What is the big here! It bored not because the collection shows a prehistoric jaw, paintings of all time, about the Romans, costumes to beautiful period rooms. You look your eyes out! On Sunday, cheaper rate and when the weather is nice (quiet!) enjoy on the terrace by a good Italian restaurant.

  • Here you can see very much. The diversity of the exhibition is very large. City history through paintings of various periods (romanticism, modernism and others orginalgetreuer equipment of rooms from the ancient time up to archaeological finds. The admission price is unusually cheap. The special exhibition for this expensive but quite interesting.
