  • This place has a cult like following with people from around the world constantly returning. They have the best marzipan in the world here in my opinion and you can hunk it up in 100g chunks like...

  • Such a unique shop! Never seen anything like it. Be prepared to wait in line for a while, but worth every second!
  • Great Store and owner is very good and friendly!
  • The best place to be in Heidelberg for having a great time and getting sweets in all kind of forms. Jürgens hand made wedding cake was the big picture at our party.
  • Lovely experience... brings out the child in everyone
  • For long, I thought the legendary story of Zuckerladen was the stuff of myth and fairytale. I was wrong. It was not until a local German girl graced with the knowledge of said place brought me to the table of knowledge for a drink and led me there by her mighty side. First, one must cross the old bridge. Avoid the new bridge - it leads only to Vanity Fair where you'll surely die a slow death. In order to successfully cross the old bridge, one must pass a tricky but simple test. A river troll will prevent any attempt at passage until you answer a riddle. He will ask, "What sound does a dog make?" Do not answer with "bark, ruff or woof." This will identify you as an American, not a true-blue countryman of Germany. Answer with "bow-wow." After that, he will similarly ask, "What sounds does a frog make?" Again, do not answer as an American. Once must say, "guac guac" to sneakily pass as a German. Follow the cobblestone streets that weave between the buildings like the strands of a German wool scarf and before you know it, you'll find yourself at the one and only Zuckerladen. Godspeed, weary traveler.
