Hannover City Hall (Rathaus), Hannover
(4.8/5 based on 800 reviews on the web)
Built in 1913, Hannover City Hall (Rathaus) is the seat of the city mayor. The striking building is reminiscent of a centuries-old castle. The lobby features four scale models of Hannover as it was in the Middle Ages, before World War II, after the destruction of 1945, and how the city looks today. After you explore the rest of the building's ornately decorated rooms, you can take the elevator up to the dome. From its 100 m (328 ft) high observation deck, you can see the whole city and--on clear days--even the Harz Mountains. The town hall is also home to a restaurant serving regional and international cuisine. • The impressive Town Hall thing I've seen so far in a German city. Visit can be for nothing in and the models of Hanover look in the 17th century, in 1939 and destroyed in 1945. Very interesting. The elevator to the observation deck goes only in summer time we unfortunately could not attend.

  • Nice building having escaped from little bombs in 1945, guided tour interrssante in German or English, very reasonable price, the Hanover from the top view is extended, but after a lot of stairs
