Part of one of the largest botanic garden complexes in Europe, Berggarten is a sprawling natural world sheltering hundreds of colorful native and exotic plants. Created in 1666, the garden was long used for breeding experiments of various plants not native to the northern climate of Lower Saxony. Though the experiment failed in its attempt to grow rice, it was successful in the cultivation of tobacco and mulberry. The garden now contains several historic conservatories, most of which were built in the 19th century to house one of the biggest collections of palm trees in all of Europe. In 2000, a state-of-the-art greenhouse was opened, designed to display plants normally found in the rainforest. This indoor tropical landscape contains more than just plants, as different species of tropical butterflies and birds have also been introduced and incorporated into the protected environment. The mountain garden is fantastic, always worth a visit. It is the former kitchen garden of the Kings. The tropical House, the Orchid House and currently highlights are the beautiful, beautiful Butterfly exhibition in bad weather.View original

Awesome place. It's got an amazing variety of plants, trees, flowers. There's even chipmunks and lovely birds. It's a great botanical garden.

Other part of Herrenhausen Gardens, but more beautiful than the main garden. Full of flowers and a large collection of different plants. The indoor gardens are amazing. It also has sealife but you need a separate ticket. Walking through the garden paths is like walking in a beautiful heaven. Do not go on the same day of visiting the main garden as you will be tiered of walking in the main garden and you will not have energy to see this properly. The ticket allows to enter this garden on different days also. So visit on a separate day and enjoy the beauty. The summers are good times for visiting.
